Sinopsis

A new assessment of the Falklands War from the Argentine perspective.

In 1982, the United Kingdom and Argentina fought a war over an historical disagreement over the colonial “ownership” or rights over the Falkland Islands. Within months of the Argentinian defeat, General Edgardo Calvi, then the Argentine Head of the Army Joint Chief of Staff, was instructed to undertake a wide-ranging and formal inquiry to investigate the performance of the Argentine Army during the Falklands. Calvi concluded that while the Army had the motivation, it lacked the organization, equipment, training, and ability to oppose an army capable of operating in a variety of environments. The war exposed political, military, and public weaknesses in a period of considerable internal unrest during the seven years of the Dirty War. Several senior officers who fought in the Falklands were imprisoned for offenses committed during the Dirty War. Secrecy and political disagreements isolated the Service chiefs of staff from the logistic and operational planning. This book tells the story of the Falklands War from the Argentine Army perspective.

Through a precious cache of WWII letters, a story of war is revealed. But also, most movingly, a story of love, resilience and survival, from award-winning and bestselling writer, Peter Rees and Sue Langford..

'Profoundly moving ... I don't mind saying I wept at the end, for all the young men lost to war, their widows and children ... a lovely book.' The Australian
Doug Heywood was a teenager when he discovered, in a shoebox hidden in a wardrobe, hundreds of letters, all written by his father, Scott Heywood. As a POW on the infamous Burma Railway, Scott wrote almost daily to his young wife, Margery, on scraps of paper that had to be hidden from guards. These letters tell of an enduring love – and also, intriguingly, of how Scott dealt with the most brutally testing circumstances.
Scott's story has echoes of another story happening 7000 kilometres away at the same time. Viktor Frankl, a psychiatrist, was rounded up with his family and sent to Auschwitz in September 1942. Frankl later wrote in his classic book Man's Search for Meaning that the last of the human freedoms was the ability 'to choose one's attitude in any set of circumstances'. Scott Heywood and Viktor Frankl, on opposite sides of the world, found their own ways to survive that were uncannily similar.
This is the untold story of one man, one ordinary man, and his war. Woven through it is Margery's story, as she waited anxiously with their two young children in rural Victoria, trapped in an emotional rollercoaster, unaware that he was writing letters to her that could not be posted. This is a powerful and moving story of love, resilience and survival.

A wonderfully fresh and frank guide to why and how to write personal stories that will heal, liberate, inspire—and entertain—writers, readers, and listeners

Writing has been medicine for Nancy Slonim Aronie. At nine months old, her son Dan was diagnosed with diabetes. Then, at twenty-two, he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. During the years she and her husband took care of Dan, and when he died at age thirty-eight, Aronie could not find the book she needed. So she wrote her memoir.

In teaching memoir writing, Aronie has found that everyone has a story to tell and that telling it is important. Sharing "this is who I am, these are the things that shaped me, this is where I am now" allows a kind of magic and healing to happen. Over decades of writing and teaching, Aronie has created a set of prompts, directions, and examples that she shares in Memoir as Medicine. Listeners will learn how to write through where they have been and into deep understanding, profound healing, and even unexpected joy.

An MDLG and ABDL story about two women who explore themselves and each other to build the relationship they had only dreamed of.Please note: This book contains content only appropriate for individuals interested in the MDLG subgroup of BDSM. It includes kink related themes, punishment by spanking and re-training using domination techniques with little space as a reward, sexual intercourse, kink introduction for a Dominant, and a loving relationship between two consenting adults. The story is a work of fiction, and although based on multiple personal experiences, Tina Moore does not assume to speak for the entire community. She also believes that the kink is as broad and diverse as the consenting adults who engage in it, and thus there is not a ‘correct’ way to be a consenting adult involved in age play and/or regression.Tina Moore would like to thank all her loyal, supportive, and loving fans. She wishes you every happiness and success and hopes that you stay safe, calm, and healthy.“I really don’t know how you do it. I mean, I would lose my mind if somebody like Zara had me on an emotional roller coast like that,” Mike said, taking a sip of his coffee. Gill just laughed.Nobody seemed to understand Zara, but to be fair, she hardly understood herself. That was until she met Gill. The queen of the roller derby track, Gill, was fighting for more than victory now, she was fighting for Zara.As Zara learns the lessons of patience, love, and the unwavering admiration of Gill’s affection, will she be able to overcome herself sabotaging ways to live the life she has always dreamed of?If you are looking for a loving and romantic MDLG story…Then scroll up and click “add to cart”

    “two ways
    still even today
    written on a stone
    as the black bird
    flies above the tomb
    out back
    in the field of
    blue and berries
    that old woman still
    stomping on his remains
    over a misbehaved
no one has to hold the blame
    heard he left
    her mistake
    guess she had
    the whole town convinced
    till the walking dead
    said they need the land
    for a parking space
    to build something grand
    So the city said
almost took a bullet to her head
    Until she realized
she is not better off dead
    so she whispered to chip
    come snow come rain
I shall never leave this grave
    and then she prayed
    as the son gave
    her another chance
    to choose one of
    two ways”

The Loyalists in the American Revolution is the detailed story of the formation of the Tory or Loyalist party in the American Revolution ; its persecution by the Whigs during a long and fratricidal war, and the banishment or death of over one hundred thousand of these most conservative and respectable Americans is a tragedy but rarely paralleled in the history of the world.
This book includes matters necessary for an understanding of the Revolution, but hitherto, for the most part, neglected, and in many cases inaccessible.
