Sinopse

The Art of War by Niccolò Machiavelli The Art of War (Italian: Dell'arte della guerra) is a treatise by the Italian Renaissance political philosopher and historian Niccolò Machiavelli.
The format of The Art of War is a socratic dialogue.

The purpose, declared by Lord Fabrizio Colonna (perhaps Machiavelli's persona) at the outset, "To honor and reward virtù, not to have contempt for poverty, to esteem the modes and orders of military discipline, to constrain citizens to love one another, to live without factions, to esteem less the private than the public good." To these ends, Machiavelli notes in his preface, the military is like the roof of a palazzo protecting the contents.

Written between 1519 and 1520 and published the following year, it was Machiavelli's only historical or political work printed during his lifetime, though he was appointed official historian of Florence in 1520 and entrusted with minor civil duties.

for many walks of life, including commercial, diplomatic, academic, philosophical, and historical pursuits. George Orwell’s campaign for perfectly written English in an artistic and content-oriented sense might seem obsessive now, but the importance of written accuracy and well-conveyed meaning for that age cannot be overstated. In fact, Orwell and his works remain famous in large measure because they’re so critical of the ways in which language can be manipulated.
Orwell believed that a decaying language was a decaying society, open to misinformation, manipulation, and rewritten versions of history, the kind of themes that have become synonymous with his name and works. He was a philosophical and political writer caught between strong capitalistic, socialistic, communist, and fascist forces operating around the globe in the early 20th century, and to prevent extremes on both sides from adopting and distorting his works, he labored to simplify his style past the possibility of misconception. His works hauntingly warn readers of the dangers of extremism, totalitarianism, and all other kinds of tyranny that can be found in government, and as a result, the word Orwellian is often thrown around. In the same vein, critics of government policies or individual politicians often make reference to Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four, dystopian works that were contemporary with World War II.
With such a successful nom de plume, it is difficult for almost anyone but family relations to recall Orwell’s real name. Eric Arthur Blair wanted to be a writer from the beginning, but so controversial were his works that he wished to avoid embarrassing or opening his family up to criticism. The name Orwell likely came from the beautiful River Orwell in East Anglia. Either way, the gifted English novelist, essayist, and critic became a major force in political literature of the 20th century.

In CALL OF THE FEARLESS, the fragile balance continues to shift as each faction races toward their ultimate goal. Lyra, once a beacon of healing light, now commands her first territory with growing confidence, using a refined version of crystal magic to transform willing followers into something new – neither thrall nor human, but something she believes transcends both. Far across the shattered kingdoms, her twin brother Kael has found temporary refuge among the resistance, though visions of his sister's transformation plague his dreams and leave him questioning what remains of the bond they once shared.

As Kyra and Kyle launch their boldest offensive yet against Isolde's strongholds, Merk undertakes a solo mission to recover a legendary weapon with the power to shatter crystal enchantments forever. Meanwhile, secrets long buried begin to surface – Maven confronts the shocking truth of her artificial creation, while cracks form in the unholy alliance between the Crystal Queen and Shadow Witch. With giant rebels seizing control of key fortresses and ancient powers awakening across the land, the twins find themselves drawn inexorably toward each other across vast distances, their powers resonating with increasing intensity as the final confrontation between light and shadow approaches.

With its strong atmosphere and complex characters, KINGS AND SORCERERS is a sweeping saga of knights and warriors, of kings and lords, of honor and valor, of magic, destiny, monsters and dragons. It is a story of love and broken hearts, of deception, ambition and betrayal. It is fantasy at its finest, inviting us into a world that will live with us forever, one that will appeal to all ages and genders.
