The German student Elsa travels to Tangier after her painful parental divorce to gain some distance. At first she unconditionally believes him and entrusts him with many things from her depressing past, but when she realizes that Robert uses make-up utensils and has several passports, she begins to think about the character of Robert's business. A little later Robert goes on one of his so-called business trips to Spain and France, and Elsa stays behind in the villa together with the Arab valet.
It turns out that Robert is a professional contract killer - a terrible discovery made by Elsa. Robert can no longer let her live...

In ‘A Game of Shadows,’ David R. Canning delivers a psychological thriller that pulls readers into a dangerous contest of skill, deception, and survival. Three professional hitmen—Mark, Alistair, and Vincent—are drawn into a deadly competition where the prize is life itself, and the cost of failure is certain death. When Colleen Masters’s father, a powerful figure in the arms trade, is assassinated, her grief turns to vengeance. Determined to uncover the truth, she enlists Lloyd, her father’s trusted caretaker, to help orchestrate a ruthless game. Each assassin receives the same contract: eliminate the other two for a staggering reward. What begins as a straightforward mission quickly becomes a labyrinth of betrayal, shifting alliances, and hidden agendas. Mark relies on his military instincts, haunted by past traumas. Alistair approaches the game with precision and control, calculating every move. Vincent thrives on chaos, a volatile presence who bends the rules to his will. As the hunters become the hunted, each man must decide whom to trust and how far to go in order to survive. Set against a backdrop of power, secrecy, and personal vendettas, ‘A Game of Shadows’ is a taut exploration of revenge and the human need for control in a world built on lies. Every move counts, and in this game, shadows conceal more than they reveal.

It feels like a time to help her friend Caroline rebuild after her mother’s death, and for Riley to do a bit of her own reflecting after a botched undercover mission in Italy. After all, it’s always good to be home. But Caroline and her brother Mike have to decide what to do with the assets they’ve inherited – the ice cream shop as well as the farm they grew up on – and they’ve never seen eye to eye. A short satirical thriller from bestselling author Freida McFadden.
    My husband is dead.
I attended his funeral. I watched his casket be lowered six feet into the ground. (Actually, it may have been only five feet, but that still seems like more than enough.) And then we ate an array of finger sandwiches and deviled eggs and miniature beef wellingtons that cost more than my first car.
My point is, Grant is gone. And so are all his many, many deep, dark secrets which I never really ever bothered to ask him about. He is never coming back.
So why do I still see his face everywhere I go?
The Widow's Husband's Secret Lie is an utterly addictive, unputdownable, nail-biting, absolutely gripping psychological thriller novella with a shocking, breathtaking, heartstopping, spine-chilling twist that you won't see coming, will leave you stunned, and will literally have you picking your jaw up off the floor and bringing it to the nearest hospital for major facial reconstructive surgery.
