Jude is dragged out of Alt-Country obscurity, out of the dismal loop of booze and sadness baths and the boundless, insatiable loneliness, to scrub up and fly to Australia for a last, desperate comeback tour. Hardly worth getting out of bed for—and he wouldn’t, if it weren’t for Coreen.
But Coreen is dead. And, worse than that, she’s married. Jude’s swan-song tour becomes instead a terminal descent, into the sordid past, into the meaning hidden in forgotten songs, into Coreen’s madness diary, there to waken something far worse than her ghost.

Mirror Dead is a thoroughly contemporary novel which demonstrates the rude health of the ghost story at the beginning of the twenty-first century. When Simon falls for fairytale-obsessed Rose, he sees a chance to move on from his girlfriend's death the year before. But can he trust Gray, the cross-dressing ghost of his twin brother, who shares his body and sees Rose as lunch? They set out to infiltrate her life, but soon find that they have bitten off more than either of them can chew. Rose has thorns. Her psycho ex is one of them. And her unstable sister has a secret agenda with an Angel that is every bit as dangerous as Gray's. . . .

“Miriam Brooks has to be one of my favorite fictional characters. She’s a fascinating blend of scientist, geek and unassuming super-hero; she’s also a hoot and a half to follow in her investigations.” ~ Readers’ Favorite Book Reviews, Jack Magnus (5 Stars)
To Miriam Brooks, a solo study trip to an abandoned desert ranch house sounds like the perfect respite from the world, a way to unwind and center herself after a string of unbelievable encounters with terrifying monsters.
Yet the desert isn't devoid of life. Something lurks outside her window, changing its form to suit its mysterious needs. She's familiar with the stories, but legend becomes reality when she stands face-to-face with a soulless copy of herself.
Another day, another monster… but before she can act, Miriam is unexpectedly flanked by the father she's been trying to avoid, along with two cocky assistants who don't understand the threat they face. She's equipped to battle the shape-shifting terror hiding in the darkness, but being forced to finally confront her father might just kill her.

Sabine Baring-Gould (1834-1924) was a British writer, clergyman and member of the landed gentry, having inherited an estate of 3,000 acres. While a young curate, he met and fell in love with a beautiful 16-year-old mill worker. He paid for her education and married her, and they subsequently had 15 children. Their relationship formed the inspiration for George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion, which was turned into the musical My Fair Lady. Baring-Gould's strangest and most enduring works are those which are based on fantastical medieval myths and folklore.
"The Red-Haired Girl" is a ghost story about an eerie and ominous servant girl who stalks the house, watching its inhabitants malevolently.

When she finally picked up the phone Brielle went on heat waves sharing her latest experience with her. Sasha felt a little relieved to know she wasn’t the only one becoming paranoid.
“So anyway, the group has decided the activity should be night hiking. Talk about adventurers.”
“That sounds kinda crazy……. but ok. I need to get out of this house.” Sasha spoke up. After finalizing the details the two hung up. She closed her eyes. Her house sounded different to her. She could hear animals scurrying outside, the wind blowing faintly off the treetops and murmuring. It was as if her whole neighborhood was now in range of her ears. Opening her eyes abruptly, she decided she would do something besides eavesdrop on the neighborhood. She picked up her notepad and flipped to the back. She found a pencil and began drawing-nothing in particular. When she had finished she looked at it in marvel and confusion. It looked like some sort of cave system. Shrugging, she picked up her notepad and began scribbling.
