The devastating effects of toxic work environments are top news. Everyone seems to understand that healthy organizations nurture flourishing individuals and societies—what Jesus desires for all. How can Christian business and ministry leaders create a positive organizational culture and identity?

Justin Irving has spent twenty years studying, teaching, and reflecting on organizational leadership. Drawing wisdom from the Bible, contemporary leadership theory, and the insights of over two hundred executive leaders, Irving provides a theological framework that makes human flourishing the driving motivation for leading organizations well. He helps listeners invest in their own growth to become leaders who motivate, inspire, and nurture. But he broadens the view to help listeners see how different levels of leadership—the dynamics and interdependence of teams and of the whole organization—work together. He then offers practical insights on building teams, culture, and effective communication and on navigating the storms of crisis and change.

God created us in his image. This places a great burden on each person to not break that image of God within us. God thinks in symbols and so do we. There is always punishment for broken symbolism. Questions considered are, what does God think about: Gender, marriage, sex, the Cross as broken, not fulfilled symbolism? Why did God punish Moses so harshly when he struck the Rock in the wilderness the second time? Why is God allowing seemingly innocent victims to die by random shooters? Why does God see the climate change movement as idolatry? Why did Satan devise homosexuality? Why did God assign the death penalty for male but not female homosexuality? Why is having multiple wives acceptable in the Old Testament, but not having multiple husbands? All these topics, and many others, have to do with symbolism and are explained by How God Thinks.

The books of Samuel, Kings, and Chronicles closed with the Southern Kingdom (Judah)'s going into captivity. Servants Serve - A Study in...

Jesus has been referred to as the Suffering Servant. Jesus declared that He came to serve not to be served. Being a servant and serving is foundational in the Kingdom of God. This is what Jesus said.
He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, “Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.” (Mark 9:35 NLT).
Not surprisingly the Scriptures have much to say about being a servant and serving. Serving is what servants do. A servant is who you are and so serving is what you do. Serving results in a benefit to others. The benefits we have are the result of someone serving us.
Serving happens at a specific place, at a specific time, and in a specific way. We will be looking at the way serving is done in the Kingdom of God. There is a Kingdom of God's way of serving that is different from the kingdom of this world's way of serving.
Jesus followers are committed to serving Jesus and see serving Jesus as their duty. Scripture tells us that Jesus will reward His followers for their service. Jesus followers will understand that any serving they do in the way of serving in the Kingdom of God is actually serving Jesus.
Loving and serving are linked because in the Kingdom of God serving is a demonstration of love. Therefore, serving in the Kingdom of God way is obeying the first and second commandments of loving God and loving neighbors.
Serving is a good and honorable thing to do.
