Sinopsis

Of course you have! (Or if you haven't, perhaps you should.) Now Mitchell Symons, the reigning King of All Pointless Trivia, carries his inquisitiveness unabashedly into the bedroom and emerges with a smile, answering not only the above but also a veritable "pornucopia" of scandalous and sexual conundrums. So for all of you burning to learn that an octopus has sex for ten straight hours or intensely curious about "uncircumcision," the astute Mr. Symons pulls back the covers to expose it all—from pick-up lines to popular positions to the greatest of all male and female sexual lies!

The quixotic adventure of a quirky redhead determined to rid the world of supervillains—and an explosive cocktail of pop culture and noir, destined to become a cult classic Wendolin Kramer is not just any girl. She’s Wondergirl. Or so she thinks. She keeps an outfit, complete with a cape, in her wardrobe and waits for Kirk Cameron to answer her letters. Almost thirty years old, she lives with her domineering mother, her henpecked father, and her depressed, pink pooch, Earl, in a tiny apartment in post-Olympic Barcelona, running a detective agency from her bedroom. When she accepts a case to follow private investigator-cum-gigolo Francis Dómino, Wen plunges into an adventure that will change her life forever. While dealing with her mysterious client, she tangles with a comic-store clerk, an assassin, and the fans of Vendolin Woolfin, the bestselling romance novelist who hides a dark secret. Can superheroines take on the world without turning into supervillains? Wen is about to find out.

'Damn, all my cheating secrets revealed. In book form' Stephen Fry

Which philosopher had the maddest hairstyle? Which novelist drank 50 cups of black coffee every day? What on earth did Simone de Beauvoir see in Jean-Paul Sartre?

How to Sound Cultured offers a wry and yet profoundly useful look inside the mirrored palaces of high culture. Covering such inscrutable characters as Heidegger, Montaigne, Kahlo and Lévi-Strauss (apparently not just a designer of jeans), inscrutable polymaths Thomas W. Hodgkinson and Hubert van den Bergh – the author of the acclaimed How to Sound Clever – have done the hard work of sorting the cultural wheat from the chaff.

Read this book and you'll never again mistake Rimbaud for Rambo or Georg Lukacs for George Lucas, you'll know precisely when to drop Foucault's name into a conversation and how to pronounce 'Borgesian', and you'll learn many more essential pointers for the intellectual life.

Get hooked with The Wine Club.
Most people can’t tell a good wine from a bottle of Two-Buck Chuck. At least that’s what Reggie and Audrey decide one night while celebrating their daughters’ election to the elite Mohave High Pom Squad. But cheerleading in Scottsdale is expensive, and both women are strapped for cash and going through a rough patch. Reggie’s husband announced he’s gay and wants a separation. Audrey’s husband is entering rehab.
What if they could earn money by selling cheap wine in fancy bottles? How hard could it be?
As they perfect their high-stakes con, they enlist the help of Cynthia, an ex-Mrs. Arizona with her own problems. When the money flows, their greed and mistrust grow…as does the realization that they are now a team of real-life female criminals.
The Wine Club is a witty, wicked tale of suburban crime. With its dark humor, creative satire, a twisted plot, and female criminals who "break bad," this suspenseful novel is filled with surprising twists and turns, and one you won't put down.

Rameau's Nephew, or the Second Satire (French: Le Neveu de Rameau ou La Satire seconde) is an imaginary philosophical conversation written by Denis Diderot, probably between 1761 and 1772. It was first published in 1805 in German translation by Goethe, but the French manuscript used has subsequently disappeared. The German version was translated back into French by de Saur and Saint-Geniès and published in 1821. The first published version based on French manuscript appeared in 1823 in the Brière edition of Diderot's works. Modern editions are based on the complete manuscript in Diderot’s own hand found by Georges Monval, the librarian at the Comédie-Française, in 1890 while buying music scores from a second-hand bookshop in Paris.[1] Monval published his edition of the manuscript in 1891. Subsequently, the manuscript was bought by the Pierpont Morgan Library in New York. It is unclear why Diderot never had it published in his time. Given the satirical tone of the work, it has been suggested that the author prudently refrained from giving offence. (Summary by wikipedia)
