Sinopse

Iron Levels explores the crucial connection between iron metabolism and healthy aging, addressing how iron absorption changes as we age and impacts overall well-being. The book highlights that maintaining balanced iron levels is essential for energy production and a robust immune system, challenging the idea of a one-size-fits-all approach to iron supplementation. Intriguingly, factors like decreased stomach acid production in older adults can significantly impair iron absorption, while emerging research indicates that both older men and women face unique challenges in maintaining adequate iron status.

The book begins by explaining the fundamentals of iron metabolism, then progresses to age-related physiological changes affecting iron absorption. Major sections delve into iron's role in immune health, the impact of chronic diseases and medications, and dietary and supplemental strategies. Through evidence-based insights from nutritional science, hematology, and geriatric medicine, Iron Levels provides personalized recommendations to help readers understand their iron status and implement effective strategies.

Ultimately, this book offers a unique perspective by integrating scientific findings with actionable advice tailored for older adults. It empowers readers to take control of their health through personalized nutrition and informed decisions about iron management, rather than simply presenting generic information.

Big Data has emerged as a cornerstone of modern business strategy, transforming how organizations operate, make decisions, and engage with customers. At its core, Big Data refers to extremely large and complex data sets that traditional data processing software cannot handle efficiently. It is not just the size of the data that matters, but also its variety, velocity, veracity, and value—commonly known as the five Vs of Big Data. These characteristics define the challenges and opportunities that Big Data presents for businesses.
The rise of digital technologies, from smartphones to sensors to cloud computing, has dramatically increased the volume of data generated daily. Businesses now have access to data from countless sources including social media platforms, customer transactions, website analytics, mobile apps, and IoT devices. This explosion of data offers unprecedented insight into customer behavior, market trends, and operational performance—if it is captured, managed, and analyzed effectively.
Understanding the significance of Big Data in business starts with its ability to enable data-driven decision making. Companies no longer need to rely solely on intuition or historical trends. Instead, they can use real-time analytics to predict outcomes, optimize strategies, and respond quickly to changes in the market. This shift toward data-centric thinking can improve efficiency, reduce costs, and create a competitive advantage.

Diet is key to understanding the past, present, and future of our species. Much of human evolutionary success can be attributed to our ability to consume and preserve a wide range of foods. Technological advances changed the types of foods we eat. With this consideration, How Technological Advances Change Human Food weaves together various themes, starting with human evolution, moving on to methods of food preservation, and continuing with the evolution of cooking methods. Issues relating to sustainability are also reported, including green food processing, vertical farming, and edible insect farming. There is a close link between what we eat and the development of our gut microbiota; thus, this book covers the evolution and adaptation of microbiota.

The Highs. The Heartbreaks. The Hangovers.
The Personal. The Vulnerable. The Downright Absurd.
    IT'S TIME TO RELOAD.
As was widely predicted, our first book, The Good, The Bad & The Rugby – Unleashed, did not win a Pulitzer Prize. It did, however, scoop Sports Entertainment Book of the Year at the 2025 Charles Tyrwhitt Sports Book Awards (and sold quite a lot of copies), so here we are again, back for a sequel.
What more have we to say? It’s a fair question. Hask can mine more new material from a trip to the supermarket than most people can from an entire lifetime – and you won’t be surprised to learn that he hasn’t just been hanging around Asda since our last book came out. He recently turned 40, he’s been through much personal turmoil, he’s done an awful lot of DJing – and he’s had a lot of arguments. Expect much of that, and even some thoughts on rugby, in the following pages.
As for Tins, you’ll find out about his early days in rugby, how he had to fight to make it, what he thinks of the state of the game, and his plans to get it back on track. Meanwhile, Alex will tell you all about his career in broadcasting, from making (‘disgusting’) tea and coffee, and presenting some of the greatest rugby matches in history, to getting binned by Sky.
We should end by begging you to pardon our previous flippancy. It was, of course, lovely to win that award, as well as very surprising. In fact, The Good, The Bad & The Rugby will never stop surprising us, and its continuing success is largely down to you – our wonderful listeners, viewers and now readers. We do hope you enjoy what follows and that you keep coming back for more.
Winners of the Charles Tyrwhitt Sports Book Awards 2025 Sports Entertainment Book of the Year, for their previous book The Good, The Bad and The Rugby – Unleashed.
In this non-fiction sequel, Haskell continues to share his humorous memoirs, diving deeper into his personal turmoil and his journey into the world of DJing. His candid revelations, coupled with Tins insights into the state of rugby and Alex's broadcasting career, make this an up-coming bestseller.
For fans of Rachel Murphy (Loose Head), Luke Upton (Hard Men of Rugby), Peter Crouch (How to Be an Ex-Footballer), and Jonny Wilkinson (Jonny).
