Summary

Frankie kidnapped her. Celeste had no idea why, but it was clear Frankie was racing against some unknown force to get out of town. As Frankie tells her where they are going, Celeste is determined to leave just as fast. She wanted nothing to do with Bren Dockery. 
  
Celeste listened to Frankie's rant about life, but the idea of staying low for two weeks while Frankie did whatever with Bren wasn't sitting well with Celeste. It didn't help her feel better as Frankie told her Joel was here and this was the best place to be with everyone coming after her. Celeste couldn't argue the only decent point Frankie made in her twenty-minute pep talk. 
Celeste was not impressed with Bren, but her reaction to Joel Dockery was something different. Joel wasn't a boy acting like a man, he was a man; a damn good looking one too. Maybe hanging around for two weeks would not be so bad, unless Joel was really what her information said he was a womanizer. It was clear; he was writing her name on his list. Although Joel was being gentlemen and allowing her to take his space, she felt conflicted. Everything within her was screaming for her to run. Something about Joel kept her there. Their chemistry was setting her on fire. She knew time was the only thing that was keeping her from being burned by his touch. 
She was curious about his offer to protect her. Even more curious he offered to marry her to protect her. What did he know that she didn't? If she is able to live within his grasp without suffering heartache, she may have a chance of finally being freed from Mort's hold. 
Celeste discovers Joel is withholding information from her. Information about her, about her life but when Mort showed up unexpectedly at Joel's grand opening, she knew she had made the right choice to agree to marry him. Her emotions were insanely out of control. Joel seemed to like her in chaos. 
Before she could allow herself to fall even more for Joel, she had to show him the video. If he wanted to be her hero, then he needed to know what he was facing. She was surprised by his dedication to save her. He still did not make her feel safe. Could she really be safe anywhere in the world?
