Mr. Meek—Musketeer by Clifford D. Simak - Adventure flamed in Mr. Meek's timorous heart, the surge of battle and singing blades. And so, with a rocket-ship for his steed and a ray-gun for his sword, he sallied forth ... carrying cavalier justice to the resentful shining stars.
Now that he'd done it, Oliver Meek found the thing he'd done hard to explain.
Under the calm, inquiring eyes of Mr. Richard Belmont, president of Lunar Exports, Inc., he stammered a little before he could get started.
"For years," he finally said, "I've been planning a trip...."
"But, Oliver," said Belmont, "we would give you a leave of absence. You'll be back. There's no reason to resign."
Oliver Meek shuffled his feet and looked uncomfortable, a little guilty.
"Maybe I won't be back," he declared. "You see, it isn't just an ordinary trip. It may take a long, long time. Something might happen. I'm going out to see the Solar System."
Belmont laughed lightly, reared back in his chair, matching fingertips. "Oh, yes. One of the tours. Nothing dangerous about them. Nothing at all. You needn't worry about that. I went on one a couple of years ago. Mighty interesting...."
"Not one of the tours," interrupted Meek. "Not for me. I have a ship of my own."
Belmont thumped forward in his chair, looking almost startled.
    "A ship of your own!"
"Yes, sir," Oliver admitted, squirming uncomfortably. "Over thirty years I've saved for it ... for it and the other things I'll need. It sort of got to be ... well, an obsession, you might say."
"I see," said Belmont. "You planned it."
    "Yes, sir, I planned it."
Which was a masterpiece of understatement.

A classic since first published almost 100 years ago, these nostalgic and whimsical poems bring back the innocence of childhood.
The poems perfectly enter the thinking of a child. Who mends the soldier's socks? Why does a dormouse keep his eyes shut? Are Brownies tickly? A. A. Milne's observation of children's behavior shows in such poems as "Disobedience" (Where has James Morrison's mother gone?), "Jonathan Jo" (who has everything you may need and only wants a smile as payment!), and "At The Zoo" (where you can find biffalo-buffalo-bisons and bidgers, badgers, and bodgers!)
Each sweet and silly poem is written with the rhythm and rhyme that young children love.
Knowing how important language development is to success in school, educator AnnaLisa Bodtker created alenbeebooks. YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES & JOHN WATSON
The case of the missing rocking horse. This completely new story I have written involves the 10 year old boys who will be the great detective Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson, his assistant, when they grow up, this is their formative years where they perfect their skills before adulthood on what my appear to be inconsequential subjects, but the principle remains the same.
This is just one of an extensive series I will be publishing as audio books in the very near future and I do hope you enjoy this first one, and its only $1.50 cents, all subsequent will remain at that price as I would not like price to be a barrier to your enjoyment.
I have worked very hard and meticulously to provide you with an enjoyable experience, the initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 minutes sets the scene, so to speak, a violin Holme's musical instrument of choice and is energetic and the closing music ends the tale on a more restrained mode and only about 1 minute.
The story itself runs to about just over 6 minutes and is of course a short story, it is read in my own voice.
The story involves the the disappearance of a rocking horse belonging to the young son, Archibald Fortescue of a wealthy banker who lives in London, in Cavendish Square, about 1890 and Holmes uses his powers of deduction and observation to track down the heirloom to the chimney sweeps son who was borrowing it for his sickly sister to give her some joy. Needless to say Holmes solves the mystery with aplomb and goes onto his next case.
The stories are designed to be entertaining to children of approximately the same age around 10 years old due to the characters involved.
I do hope you and you children, if applicable, enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come!
