Sinopsis

From an Eisner Award–winning author, a supernatural thriller about a man who confronts a ghost while searching for artifacts of a Native American tribe.   Vaughan Beadles, Professor of Anthropology at Creighton University, is at the top of his game. Not only does he have a beautiful wife and baby son, Beadles has just taken possession of the largest uncatalogued post-Anasazi Indian collection in the world. Creighton has long maintained the existence of the Azuma, a previously unknown and extremely belligerent southwest Amerindian tribe. When a scorpion crawls out of a bowl and stings Beadles’ student, his world turns upside down. The university charges Beadles with theft and the police charge him with homicide. He loses his job, his wife, and his future. Beadles’ only chance at redemption is to prove the Azuma existed, setting him on a path that will inexorably lead to a terrifying confrontation in the Arizona desert with a creature beyond belief.   “Mike Baron is like Quentin Tarantino on paper.” —Kevin J. Anderson, New York Times–bestselling author

    Fear feeds Wickedness.
It hungers for the tremor of a voice, the drop of a tear. Wickedness dines on the echo of a racing heart, delights in the falsetto of a scream.
Eliza lives darkness’ dream. A maid in a great house, owned by indifferent aristocrats, run by their three cruel daughters.
Daily beatings, tricks and cruelties by the Norlane sisters have left Eliza a mute shell, a vacant vessel besieged by fear. Yet, alone as she feels, as small and insignificant as her life seems, something is watching her.
Darkness lives in the forbidden forest beyond the neat and orderly civility of Norlane Hall. Wickedness hears Eliza’s silent tears, rises to the vibrations of her body that quivers in terror.
Wickedness awakens from its slumber and calls to her.

"The Call of Cthulhu" by Howard Phillips H. P. Lovecraft is one of the classic horror works, so called "Lovecraft horrors". American author of horror, fantasy, and science fiction, Lovecraft's major inspiration and invention was cosmic horror; the idea that life is incomprehensible to human minds and that the universe is fundamentally alien. Those who genuinely reason, like his protagonists, gamble with sanity. Lovecraft has developed a cult following for his Cthulhu Mythos, a series of loosely interconnected fiction featuring a pantheon of human-nullifying entities, as well as the Necronomicon, a fictional grimoire of magical rites and forbidden lore. His works were deeply pessimistic and cynical, challenging the values of the Enlightenment, Romanticism, and Christian humanism. Lovecraft's protagonists usually achieve the mirror-opposite of traditional gnosis and mysticism by momentarily glimpsing the horror of ultimate reality. Some people adore it, some people find it way too long (reading it is definitely work), but everyone agrees it's a monumental story that ties together the universe where "The Call of Cthulhu," The Shadow Over Innsmouth, "The Dunwich Horror," and lots of other stories exist. A group of explorers go to Antarctica and discover evidence of a previous civilization. I don't want to spoil the surprises, but I can at least tell you the big discovery the explorers make: There are things that even monsters fear. Famous works of the author Howard Phillips Lovecraft: At the Mountains of Madness, The Dreams in the Witch House, The Horror at Red Hook, The Shadow Out of Time, The Shadows over Innsmouth, The Alchemist, Herbert West: Reanimator, Ex Oblivione, Azathoth, The Call of Cthulhu, The Cats of Ulthar, The Outsider, The Picture in the House, The Shunned House, The Terrible Old Man, The Tomb, What the Moon Brings.

Megan is a thirteen-year-old teenage girl, who realises that she has psychic powers that others do not have. At first, she tried to talk to her mother about them, but with disastrous consequences, so she learned to keep quiet about them.
However, some people do offer to help and an animal showed a special friendship, but they were not `alive` in the normal sense of the word. They had passed on.
Megan has three such friends: Wacinhinsha, her Spirit Guide, who had been Sioux in his last life on Earth; her maternal grandfather, Gramps and a huge Siberian tiger called Grrr.
Wacinhinsha is extremely knowledgeable in all things spiritual, psychic and paranormal; her grandfather is a novice `dead person` and Grrr can only speak Tiger, as one might imagine and most of that, of course is unintelligible to humans.
In `Megan`s Father Falls Ill`, Megan is concerned about her father`s health, because she has never seen him ill before, so she decides to try using her psychic powers to cure him. In the end, she uses a combination of her gifts and the Internet to discover ways to help him recover.
Wacinhinsha gives her a lecture on medicine and its application, especially from the Spiritualist point of view.
