Sinopse

One of the most popular and widely read books of the Middle Ages, Physiologus contains allegories of beasts, stones, and trees both real and imaginary, infused by their anonymous author with the spirit of Christian moral and mystical teaching.  Accompanied by an introduction that explains the origins, history, and literary value of this curious text, this volume also reproduces twenty woodcuts from the 1587 version. Originally composed in the fourth century in Greek, and translated into dozens of versions through the centuries, Physiologus will delight readers with its ancient tales of ant-lions, centaurs, and hedgehogs—and their allegorical significance. “An elegant little book . . . still diverting to look at today. . . . The woodcuts reproduced from the 1587 Rome edition are alone worth the price of the book.”—Raymond A. Sokolov, New York Times Book Review

Learn from award winning professors in this set of five talks originally delivered at One Day University. Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior, and psychologists are actively involved in studying and understanding mental processes, including brain functions, and behavior. In fact, the field of psychology is considered a "Hub Science" with strong connections to the medical sciences, social sciences, and education. Human nature is a related concept but nevertheless  a bit different, as it  denotes the fundamental dispositions and characteristics—including ways of thinking, feeling, and acting—that humans are said to have naturally.

When scholars study the history of the ancient Near East, several wars that had extremely brutal consequences (at least by modern standards) often stand out. Forced removal of entire populations, sieges that decimated entire cities, and wanton destruction of property were all tactics used by the various peoples of the ancient Near East against each other, but the Assyrians were the first people to make war a science. When the Assyrians are mentioned, images of war and brutality are among the first that come to mind, despite the fact that their culture prospered for nearly 2,000 years.
Like a number of ancient individuals and empires in that region, the negative perception of ancient Assyrian culture was passed down through Biblical accounts, and regardless of the accuracy of the Bible’s depiction of certain events, the Assyrians clearly played the role of adversary for the Israelites. Indeed, Assyria (Biblical Shinar) and the Assyrian people played an important role in many books of the Old Testament and are first mentioned in the book of Genesis: “And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel and Erech, and Akkad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. Out of that land went forth Ashur and built Nineveh and the city Rehoboth and Kallah.” (Gen. 10:10-11). Although the Biblical accounts of the Assyrians are among the most interesting and are often corroborated with other historical sources, the Assyrians were much more than just the enemies of the Israelites and brutal thugs.

A never-before-heard firsthand account of a government insider's experience on the cutting edge of UFO exploration; includes a new afterword"Forget everything you think you know about UFOs - this insider's account exposes the reality... Packed with top grade information, insightful analysis and fascinating anecdotes, Alexander's interesting and controversial book sets the gold standard for titles on this subject." –Nick Pope, author of Open Skies, Closed Minds"Changes the playing field for both true believers and skeptics alike. Alexander strongly warns, be careful what you wish for when asking for presidential intervention. Success could set the field of ufology back decades." --George Noory, host of Coast to Coast AMWhile still on active duty in the U.S. Army during the 1980s, Colonel John B. Alexander, Ph.D. created an interagency group to explore the controversial topic of UFOs. All members held Top Secret clearance. What they discovered was not at all what was expected. UFOs covers the numerous cases they saw, and answers questions like:• What was really in Hanger 18? • Did a UFO land at Holloman Air Force Base? • What happened at Roswell? • What is Majestic 12? • What is the Aviary? • What does the government know about UFOs? • What has happened with disclosure in other countries? • Has the U.S. reverse engineered a UFO? • Why don't presidents get access to UFO info? UFOs is at once a complete account of Alexander's findings, and a call to action. There are no conspiracy theories here—only hard facts—but they are merely the beginning. Foreword by Jacques F. The Relentless War on Masculinity is a cultural, rhetorical, chemical, legal and institutional attack on all males. During the last seven decades it has resulted in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand moving from being societies characterised by equality (during the 1980s) to now being highly gynocentric.
Western countries have tilted against men and boys for decades—dismantling fatherhood, ignoring male disadvantage, and portraying masculinity as a problem to be fixed. The result is a crisis: falling education outcomes for boys, disengaged young men, rising mental health struggles, plummeting birth rates, and fractured relationships between men and women.
This book shines a light on the causes of the crisis and offers a vision for how to rebuild. Combining clear analysis with heartfelt advocacy, David Maywald calls for a new social contract: one where boys are supported, men are respected, and both sexes work together to create a healthier future for us all...
    This book explores:
    - How Anglo societies moved from equality to gynocentrism—and what that means for our families, schools, and communities.
    - Why fatherhood, faith, and purpose remain essential foundations of human flourishing.
    - The cultural, political, and institutional forces that have sidelined men.
    - Practical solutions and reforms that can restore balance, rebuilding collaboration between men and women.
There are no winners from The Relentless War on Masculinity, but we can rebuild a much healthier society if men and women collaborate for our children. Inclusion demands that we listen to and engage with all voices—including males, White people and Christians.
As a society, will we choose combativeness or collaboration? Read on for a provocative, hopeful and urgent call to action. This book is for everyone who believes that when men and boys thrive, society also flourishes.
