Sinopsis

Harvey and Sarah live a happy, quiet life in the hillside - until the world around them suddenly changes. It begins with the television transmitters failing to broadcast programs. Then the electrical power supply drops out, and the phone falls silent, too. An eerie grey haze covers the land, while a deceptive silence hovers over the fields and Harvey's house. At night he is sure he hears creatures creeping around the house. A short encounter with one of these creatures in the garden brings him the terrible certainty that he hasn't been imagining things.

Determined to learn what the hell happened, Harvey drives over to his old friend, Murphy, who runs a small grocer's shop a few miles down the road. But Murphy is no longer the same man he once knew. Harvey's friend has gone inexplicably mad…

"It's so dark and melancholic and yet a real page-turner. Wow! The subliminal, ongoing threat that from the very first page runs through the book is characterized so perfectly. I just want to say 'Thanks' for this great reading experience and give it a grade A (and I really give this one only very, very, very, very and very seldom.)" - Royston Vasey

What must Ruscha do to secure the magic word that kills when it’s uttered? Taken from a Danish folk tale, and spiced up with lively characters and murky atmosphere, this short tale delivers some wonderful chills.

Elizabeth Ellet wrote for the magazines, or periodicals in the mid-1800s, and the name of Mrs. Ellet was recognized in literary circles. In 1848, she published her most important work: “The Women of the American Revolution”. Today, Ellet is perhaps known best for the scandal she leaked about Edgar Allan Poe’s rumored affair with Frances Sargent Osgood when both were married to other people. Poe maligned her in the press, knocked her writings, accused her of plagiarism, and even referred to her as “short and fat”. In print.

This captivating collection fuses stories and poems, taking us on an immersive journey through time, intertwining past and present. The Enchanter and Chimera (poem)
In knightly days of yore did the Enchanter create a chimera creature,
A hybrid of lion and bird to hunt a giant Roc bird,
A giant bird of prey of the lands of Arabia years of old,
He admired the Roc as it gracefully flew through the clouds from the back of his Chimera
He wore a suit of shining armour, feathers flew from his steed's giant wings,
He drew his enchanted sword and the flying lion flew in for the kill,
He stabbed the snapping giant bird and it fell from the sky,
    Landing in a great thud.
