Summary

Words of Grace is a collection of inspired poems from my time serving as a youth leader in the local church. My goal was to create poetry that would navigate and inspire people of all ages to build a personal relationship with God.

Words of Grace covers a wide range of poems that explore areas of love, life, faith, hope, and perseverance.

Take the time to focus your mind and allow this eclectic selection of rhythmical words to sink deep into your soul and spark a light in your heart that leads you on the pathway to Paradise.

Peace and love to you all.
Available since: 11/27/2023.

In England summer evenings remind us of the falling of the light, of village greens and the thump of willow on leather. In winter, evenings are dark, unlit and a time to be inside.
The evening light, of twilight, of sunset, has another name in the movie business. They call it ‘magic hour’ and sometimes it is just that. The heavy, golden light suffuses everything with a glow and fullness that gladdens our hearts and delights our eyes.
For our poets this was a time of mystery and wonder; between the bright day and the canopy of stars that heralded sleep.
This volume comes to you from Portable Poetry, a specialized imprint from Deadtree Publishing. Our range is large and growing and covers single poets, themes, and many compilations.

Looking for Angels is a heartfelt collection of spoken word poetry that traces a deeply personal and spiritual journey through life, guided by the quiet presence of angels. In this follow-up to her acclaimed debut Thank God I Had Therapy Yesterday, Deb'bora offers a tender and lyrical tribute to the unseen forces that have offered her protection, comfort, and direction from childhood to adulthood.
With raw honesty and a deep sense of gratitude, each poem becomes a love letter to the divine messengers who have walked beside her in both light and darkness. Looking for Angels invites readers to reflect on their own moments of grace, their inner resilience, and the possibility that – even in silence – we are never truly alone.

Meet Ashraf and his 'Habibti' – his daughter Shazia. He's an Egyptian, Muslim taxi driver; she's half-Egyptian, half-Wiganese, and more interested in the last call at the bar than the call to prayer.
Their relationship is put to the test when Ashraf introduces Shazia to his new Egyptian bride, whilst she is attempting to break the news of her own secret engagement. In Ashraf's taxi they must navigate driving lessons, sing karaoke and explore whether, despite their differences, family can win out regardless.
Habibti Driver is a heartwarming and hilarious play, based on Shamia Chalabi's real-life experiences and co-written with Sarah Henley, exploring the clashes, compromises and comedy that come with living in a mixed-culture family in today's Britain.
First performed in an earlier version – Burkas and Bacon Butties – at the VAULT Festival, London, this revised, full-length version premiered at the Octagon Theatre Bolton in April 2022, co-produced with Tara Finney Productions.

Llanrumney plantation. Saint Mary Parish, Jamaica. 1765.
Annie and Cerys are enslaved by the Morgan family from Wales. When Elizabeth Morgan is faced with the loss of her plantation, the slaves' future hangs in the balance.
With a storm of rebellion brewing, Annie does everything she can to secure her future. But sooner or later she will have to face up to the horror and trauma all around her, including her own.
Azuka Oforka's play The Women of Llanrumney is a powerful, searing drama that explores the impact of slavery and the lives of women who experienced it – those who benefitted from it, those who were brutalised by it and those who fought to destroy it. It premiered at Sherman Theatre, Cardiff, in 2024, directed by Patricia Logue.
Azuka Oforka was the joint winner of the Best Writer award at The Stage Debut Awards 2024.

'I didn't expect it so soon, that's all. It made it seem so final, all our lives, those decisions all irreversible, immortalised in a slideshow to a Coldplay track.'
Helen is forty when she loses her husband. Her daughter Becca is fifteen when her dad dies. Now it's just the two of them... what do they do next?
Unfolding through snapshots of a relationship over forty years, Helen explores the threads which bind mother and daughter together, how they damage each other, and how they come to each other's rescue.
A play for two actors – about love, grief, and getting ashes stuck to your trouser leg – Helen by Maureen Lennon was shortlisted for the 2020 Theatre503 International Playwriting Award. It was first produced at Theatre503, London, in 2023, in a co-production with Terrain, a company dedicated to promoting Northern artists and the stories they tell.
