Sinopsis

 A Girl…A Guy…
Killian knows all about vampires and aliens. They're not real. But when a handsome swimmer climbs into her storm-tossed boat an hour from her summer destination, the worlds of fantasy and reality suddenly collide…
 An Island of Mystery…
Cuttylea Island has no mall, no social scene, and no action. But it does have a mysterious stone tower, ageless islanders, and a secret as astonishing as a mermaid's tale…
 An Ancient Curse…
Before the summer is through, Killian will find the truth of her family's past…and be forced to choose between love and destiny.

No Shield From The Dead by Gordon R. Dickson - No conceivable force could penetrate Terri's shield. Yet he was defenseless.
It was a nice little party, but a bit obvious. Terri Mac saw through it before he had taken half a dozen steps into the apartment. A light flush staining his high cheek-bones. "This is ridiculous," he said.
The light chatter ceased. Cocktail glasses were set down on various handy tables and ledges; and all faces in the room turned toward a man in his late fifties who sat propped up invalid-wise on pillows in a chair in a corner of the room.
"The Comptroller is perspicacious," said the old man, agreeably, waving one hand in a casual manner. "On your way, children."
And the people present smiled and nodded. Quite as if it were an ordinary leave-taking, they pushed past Terri Mac and filed out the door. Even the blonde, Terri had picked up at the embassy ball and who had brought him here, strolled off casually, but in a decidedly less drunken fashion than she had exhibited earlier in the evening.
"Sit down," said the old man. Terri Mac did so, gazing searchingly at the skinny frame and white eyebrows in an unsuccessful effort to connect him with something in memory. "This is ridiculous," he repeated.

They are our neighbors next door, down the street, or across the country. They live in different places, worship in different ways, and come from different backgrounds and histories. They struggle, achieve, and overcome. They are you, and me, and us.Because, as we strive to create a more perfect union, “we” should mean “all.”

Most people think the average teenager isn’t capable of much beyond hanging with their friends and wasting time. But Zach Hunter isn’t your average teenager. And he’s hoping to show you that you’re not either. Zach has been trying to end slavery around the globe. Most people (maybe even you) think that slavery has been over for a long time. But sadly, there are more people bound in slavery now than at any of the times we read about in our history books. Now Zach is working to end slavery and free the men, women, and children who are being held against their will. He’s even found some friends in the fight, including Jon Foreman of Switchfoot and Leeland Mooring of Leeland. Just look around the world and on the news and you’ll find that there are plenty of things wrong with our planet—homelessness, hunger, global warming, AIDS…the list goes on and on. And we usually look at these problems and decide they’re too big for us to do anything about. But Zach is proving that one person can make a difference. And in his book, he’ll reveal the elements needed to make amazing changes in your world. In the end, he hopes you’ll find the thing you’re passionate about—and start making changes!
