Sinopse

Self-publishing has transformed the publishing market, democratizing authors' access to the reading public. However, with this opening also came a new challenge: how to stand out among millions of available titles? The answer lies in literary SEO — a combination of search engine optimization strategies adapted to the specific environment of bookselling platforms like Amazon .SEO (Search Engine Optimization ) is widely used on websites and blogs to improve their positioning in search engines, such as Google. Similarly, literary SEO involves applying these practices in the context of a book, with the aim of improving its visibility on Amazon . Amazon , being the largest online marketplace for books, works similarly to a search engine. Readers enter specific terms in the search bar, and the platform's algorithm filters and displays the most relevant results.Optimizing for Amazon is vital because the platform not only organizes and displays books based on keywords and categories, but also takes into account other factors such as reviews, sales, and content quality. Ignoring these practices means you risk your book getting lost in a vast slew of competing titles.Practical Example:Consider an author who has written a beginner's guide to mindfulness . Without any optimization , his book might get lost in the crowd of similar titles. However, by inserting keywords like " mindfulness guide ," "meditation for beginners," and "how to reduce stress," he can target his book to the right audience, ensuring that it appears in relevant searches, thus increasing its chances of selling.Understanding the Amazon AlgorithmAmazon 's algorithm , commonly known as A9, is the engine that drives sales on the platform. It decides which books will be displayed to readers, in what order, and in what contexts. For an author, understanding how this algorithm works is like cracking the code to self-publishing success .A9 takes several factors into account when ranking and recommending books, the most important of which are:Learn Much More...

Following up on her acclaimed Teach Students How to Learn, that describes teaching strategies to facilitate dramatic improvements in student learning and success, Saundra McGuire here presents these "secrets" direct to students.

Beginning with explaining how expectations about learning, and the study efforts required, differ between college and secondary school, the author introduces her listeners, through the concept of metacognition, to the importance and powerful consequences of understanding themselves as learners. This framework and the recommended strategies that support it are useful for anyone moving on to a more advanced stage of education.

In a conversational tone, and liberally illustrated by anecdotes of past students, the author combines introducing listeners to concepts like Bloom's Taxonomy, fixed and growth mindsets, as well as what brain science has to tell us about rest, nutrition and exercise, together with such highly specific learning strategies as how to read a textbook, manage their time, and take tests.

With engaging exercises and thought-provoking reflections, this book is an ideal motivational and practical text for study skills and first year experience courses.

Those who had decoded and seen the Japanese communications in early December 1941 would not be surprised when they heard about an attack on December 7, 1941. They would, however, be astonished when they heard where that attack took place. Posted on the other side of the world, it was early on the morning of December 8 in the Philippines when American general Douglas MacArthur received news of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor hours earlier. With that, it could only be a matter of time before the Japanese attacked the Philippines.
While the Battle of the Coral Sea is not as well known as other battles across the Pacific, it set a precedent by pitting enemy aircraft carriers against each other, a battle in which the rival navies themselves never sighted each other or fired a gun at each other. Instead, the fighting was done with the carriers’ aircraft, something that would become more common over time and would result in decisive actions at places like Midway just months later. Furthermore, while it was in a sense a tactical victory for the Japanese, it would end up helping blunt their aggressive push east in the Pacific, making it a crucial strategic victory for the Allies.
By the time the Battle of Midway was over, the defeat was so devastating that it was actually kept secret from all but the highest echelons of the Japanese government. Along with the loss of hundreds of aircraft and over 3,000 men killed, the four Japanese aircraft carriers lost, when compared to America’s one lost carrier, was critical considering America’s huge shipbuilding superiority. However, the Battle of Midway could also have easily turned out differently. Japan began the battle with more carriers, more and better aircraft, and more experienced crews than the Americans, and if the battle of the Coral Sea was any indication, the two sides had irrefutable proof of the dominance of the aircraft carrier in the Pacific.

Stop chasing the "spark" and start building a system that lasts.
Most marriage advice focuses on how you should feel, but feelings don't pay the bills, navigate career pivots, or resolve the exhaustion of unclear responsibilities. In this groundbreaking guide, you will discover that the primary cause of marital friction isn’t a lack of love—it’s a system failure.
Love brings people together, but stability is what keeps them together. The Functional Partnership moves beyond the outdated debates of dominance and the modern "Fairness Trap" of 50/50 symmetry. Instead, it provides a mechanical blueprint for a high-performing relationship built on two essential forces: Leadership and Support.
In these pages, you will learn:The Power of Ownership: Why one partner must "own the outcome" of specific domains to eliminate the "Responsibility Vacuum." The Navigator’s Strength: How the Support role provides the critical feedback and reinforcement that keeps the relationship on course without losing individual identity. Decision-Making Tiers: How to eliminate "gridlock by committee" by categorizing choices into autonomous, consultative, and collaborative domains. Emotional Steadiness: The discipline of being the "non-anxious presence" when life becomes chaotic. The Role Pivot: How to gracefully shift leadership and support responsibilities when health crises, career "sprints," or children change your team's capacity.

With the United States’ entry into World War II, President Franklin D. Roosevelt created the first peacetime civilian intelligence agency in 1941–the Office of the Coordinator of Information. This office was designed to organize the activities of several agencies. In 1942, a larger and more diversified agency, the Office of Strategic Services, the forerunner of today’s Central Intelligence Agency was created. This recording includes a short lecture on methods of interrogation, treatment of prisoners, understanding German and Japanese culture, procedures for ground forces that capture prisoners, and the use of practice interrogations.

Lies My Liberal Teacher Told Me...

A college professor debunks the myths that have infiltrated America's school curricula.
In 1995, James W. Loewen penned the classic work of criticism Lies My Teacher Told Me, a left-leaning corrective that addressed much of what was sanitized and omitted from American history books.
But in the decades that followed, false leftist narratives—as wrong as those they supplanted—have come to dominate American academia and education. Now, in the same spirit but updated for 2024, Wilfred Reilly demolishes the scholastic myths propagated by the left, uncovers fresh angles on “established” events, and turns what we think we know about history upside down. Among the popular lies he debunks:“The ‘Red Scare’ was a moral panic that caught no commies”“Native Americans were peaceful people who spent all day dancing”“European colonialism was—empirically—a no-good, terrible, very bad thing”“The racist ‘Southern Strategy’ turned the South Republican”“The Vietnam War was unpopular and pointless”

Lies My Liberal Teacher Told Me sets the record straight on many of these myths, explaining that there actually were communists in Hollywood; that many Native American tribes were cannibals, owned slaves and made them march the Trail of Tears with them; and that history, while almost always bad for Black Americans, was much worse for all of us than we tend to think it was.
Smart, irreverent, and deeply researched, Lies My Liberal Teacher Told Me will revolutionize your understanding of history and reveal a new and refreshing way to teach and think about the past.
