    Till Death Do Us Part
Enjoying a rare break in his remote lochside cabin, DCI Bone suddenly finds himself cut off when the mother of all snowstorms hits the Campsie Fells. Intrigued by the flickering lights from one of the loch’s uninhabited islands, Bone commandeers a local boat and heads out across stormy waters to investigate.

There, amongst the island’s ancient Celtic gravestones, Bone makes a grisly, surreal discovery: a mutilated bride and groom, bound together in frozen union.

A researcher goes on an expedition to find "The Tablets of the Gods" which have plagued his dreams since his boyhood. He finds them, and the horrible truth of humanity's true purpose in the universe. This story, "The Man Who Found Out" is an example to me of pure cosmic horror in that the horror comes totally from knowledge which is (in-story) so terrible that it forever blights the minds of anyone who discovers it. Two highly intelligent and well informed men, Professor Ebor and then Dr. Laidlaw, learn the contents of the Tablets of the Gods, and even though this information is short enough to be on two ordinary-sized tablets, it is enough to induce absolute belief in its veracity and utterly destroy hope in the reader. Yeah, that is pretty scary. There are no monsters in the tale, nothing but Forbidden Knowledge -- which, apparently, is Forbidden with good reason

First published in Planet Stories in 1944, The Monster Maker is a tense and imaginative science fiction tale that showcases Ray Bradbury’s early mastery of psychological storytelling. When space travelers Click Hathaway and Irish Marnagan are stranded on a barren asteroid after a catastrophic crash, they find themselves surrounded by horrifying alien creatures seemingly conjured by a ruthless pirate named Gunther. As oxygen dwindles and terror mounts, the men begin to realize a chilling truth: the monsters may not be physical beings at all, but manifestations of their own fears made real through belief and suggestion. Blending classic pulp sci-fi atmosphere with Bradbury’s signature insight into the human mind, The Monster Maker explores illusion, perception, and the devastating power of fear—proving that the most dangerous monsters are often the ones we create ourselves. Perfect for readers who enjoy vintage science fiction with philosophical depth and psychological tension.
