A richly detailed biography of English footballing icon Terry Venables, telling the story of his playing career, managerial successes (and failures) and fascinatinglife away from the pitch.

Released to mark the 30th anniversary of Euro 96, the tournament when Venables managed England and very nearly helped football come home.

If there was a year when English football exploded into the public consciousness it was 1996. It was the summer when the phrase "Football's coming home" echoed from car radios, when Alan Shearer and Paul Gascoigne orchestrated England's campaign in the European Championship that captivated a nation.

At the centre of it all was Terry Venables, managing England in what, remarkably, was his only international tournament. He was not the most successful man to manage England, but he was unquestionably the most interesting.

As a manager and coach, he was startlingly successful. He was 39 when he took Queens Park Rangers to an FA Cup final, 43 when he steered Barcelona to their first La Liga title in a dozen years. An estimated one million people cam on to the city's streets to welcome the team home from the airport. The tributes on his death in 2023 spoke of a man of enormous achievements who might have achieved very much more.

If you are entering mid-life with the fear that life has passed you by, this book is a must read!
It’s About TIME; rediscover your youth and take the fear out of change, combines personal narrative and self-growth to take you on a journey of discovery. It begins on Ray’s 40th birthday when he is contemplating ending his life. It was then that a sitcom rerun reached inside his drunken mind and gave him the equation that would become the spark for his reinvention.
Ray invites the reader to walk beside him through 20 transformative years, showing how TIME - when embraced with courage and intention - can become the most powerful tool for reshaping a life. In this unflinchingly honest memoir, he bares his heart, sharing the vulnerable moments and hard-won insights that guided him as he rebuilt his “second life.” At forty he showed up on his mother’s doorstep with nothing but the clothes on his back. From that humble, uncertain beginning, he began crafting a future filled with purpose, dignity and pride. His journey stands as a reminder that no matter where you start again, beauty is still possible.
It’s never too late to be what you might have been” - George Eliot
     From the Author
When I was approaching 40 I found myself struggling with suicidal thoughts, convinced my life was beyond repair. But on the day I turned 40, something shifted. I made a discovery that helped me to turn my life around and see it as something full of beauty and potential. Since then, I’ve made it my mission to share that discovery with as many people as possible, so they too can experience the unexpected beauty of turning 40.
There was no AI used in the making of this book. It took 20 years of my life and 2 years of dedicated writing to bring you this life-changing guide. This isn’t a book about Ray Frigault…this book IS Ray Frigault.

    Boleslaw Prus

Aleksander Głowacki who wrote under the nom de plume Boleslaw Prus was born on 20th August 1847 at Hrubieszów in the Kingdom of Poland, at that time, controlled by the Russian Empire.
At three his mother died and then at nine his father. Female relatives helped raise him but at 15 he joined the Polish uprising against the might of Imperial Russia. Wounded on the battlefield, arrested and imprisoned, he was later released into the care of a relative and resumed secondary school and then Warsaw University but poverty forced him to leave after two years. At some point he developed agoraphobia which often caused problems.
In 1869, he enrolled in the Forestry Department at Puławy but was soon sacked and so he began a system of self-education that led to work as a newspaper columnist on a wide-ranging series of topics that eventually became the ‘Weekly Chronicles’ and spanned 40 years.
With his finances now stabilized he married and then adopted his late brother-in-law’s son.
It seems he had doubts as to the scale of his talents and early on adopted the name ‘Boleslaw Prus’ for both his journalistic and literary offerings.
His work as a short-story writer met with much acclaim. He wrote several dozen of them, originally published in newspapers and ranging in length from micro-story to novella. His keen observation of everyday life and sense of humor are evident in them.
During his career he also wrote novels. After ‘Pharoah’, in 1895, he embarked on a four-month journey taking in Berlin, Dresden, Nuremberg, Rapperswil in Switzerland, where he stayed for two months, and his final destination, Paris. Here his agoraphobia was so bad he couldn’t cross the Seine.
However, his writing continued and in 1911 his novel ‘Changes’, though uncompleted, began to be serialised. It was never finished.
Boleslaw Prus died on 19th May 1912, at his Warsaw apartment. He was 64. A National Hero, thousands attended both his funeral service and interment.
