Summary

Ever wondered how Bill Gates and Steve Jobs rose to stardom?

Besides Microsoft, Bill is well- known for his immense riches. The man clinched the designation of the well-off person across the globe for a period of fifteen years in succession. Even in February 2008, Bill was positioned as the third moneyed individual in the world.
Bill’s effective spell as an entrepreneur grossed him universal acknowledgement. He was acknowledged as one of the most prominent individuals of the twentieth century by the Times journal. He was also accepted as the greatest effective people for the year 2004, 2005 and 2006.

After reading the book, you'll find some of Jobs impressive accomplishments through his business career and personal life. More importantly, how he developped Apple as we know it today.
Jobs was obviously a very special person, and I found this book as a short portrayed for both: the good and the bad about Jobs.

This work is O. Henry's first published volume and is considered to be his only novel. The plot is composed of several short stories, which were inspired by the author's six-month stay in Honduras in the late 1890s."The incidents embracing as they do, a variety of subjects, hang loosely together, so loosely in fact, that at times one finds no apparent connection between them at all, and yet in the end one sees how each is intimately related to the other. ...Written by a less able hand than O. Henry's the book might have been a sad jumble, perhaps comprehensible to none but the Walrus--but as it is, one finds a joy in its every obscurity." -- The New York Times Book Review, Dec. 17, 1904)Great mysteries are ofen meta-mysteries. For over a century this novel has masqueraded as a collection of loosely connected short stories. Looking backwards through a prism (now a commonplace critical contortion) Cabbages and Kings foreshadows many shadings: "At Swim-Two-Birds", "Pierre Menard, Author of the Quixote", "Tyrants Destroyed", "The Continuity of Parks". -- Elliot GageO. Henry spent his first years as a writer in Austin, Texas, and the University of Texas maintains a 219-item collection of his works at the Portal to Texas History (reference to publicly-available items which may not be in public domain offered to enthusiasts). — Eric W. This biography of a tenacious fighter pilot is “a powerful story about a fascinating man who seemed to know no fear” (Aerodrome).   As one of the most successful German fighter pilots of World War I, Rudolf Berthold was victorious in forty-four aerial combats. He was also shot down or forced to land after six fights and survived crash landings in every case. Early in WWI, when only fighter pilots were awarded the Kingdom of Prussia’s (and de facto, Imperial Germany’s) highest bravery decoration, the Pour le Mérite, Berthold became the tenth recipient of the honor. Of that early cohort of air heroes, only Berthold and one other pilot survived the war. This book tells his remarkable story.   Six weeks into the war, Berthold became the first airman in the 2nd Army area to be awarded an Iron Cross in recognition of his bravery and tenacity in combat. The symbolism of the award was appropriate. Described by one of his pilot protégés as “an Iron Man—with an absolutely unbendable iron will,” he was a dedicated patriot. And, after he became a fighter pilot, he demonstrated a fierce fighting spirit in many encounters with British and French adversaries. All of his aerial combats with other Pour le Mérite–awarded flyers are detailed in this book. Indeed, Berthold was so relentless in his approach to aerial combat that when badly wounded, on at least six occasions, he cut short his convalescent leave to return to flying with his comrades. The injuries included a hit to his right arm, which shattered the bone, rendering it useless—yet an undaunted Berthold taught himself to fly using his left.   Peter Kilduff has produced a landmark volume based on extensive research into Berthold’s life and military career to form the most complete account of Germany’s sixth highest scoring fighter ace of WWI. Illustrated with over eighty photographs and other artworks, many never published before, Iron Man tells the tale of this ruthless, fearless fighter whose perseverance and bravery made him one of the most famous airmen of the Great War.

In this revelatory memoir, the former CEO of Sonic challenges established thinking, offering counterintuitive career advice essential for every professional at all levels, whether you're just starting out or in the middle of your career.

In his bestselling Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell introduced readers to the 10,000-hour rule—the foundation of success in any endeavor. But as Clifford Hudson reveals, there are serious pitfalls to this rule. What happens to those who spend years trying to achieve something that doesn’t quite pan out? Do you really have to grind down the same path for many years, sacrificing priorities to become successful?
In this thought-provoking memoir, Hudson asks whether or not mastery is even necessary to succeed. Most people don't need to be experts in their field. Yes, the successful know more than the average person about a particular topic, and they often possess a better-than-average ability with a particular skillset; but not everyone who is successful is an expert, he makes clear.
More importantly, in today’s technology-driven environment, change is the only constant, including the nature of work and the skills required to do it. Over-investing in expertise is often riskier than learning to be adaptive and open to new knowledge, ideas, and skills. Experience can also lead to overconfidence. And yet we continue to deeply value the expertise ideal.
In Master of None, Hudson turns expertise on its head and shows that by embracing variety and becoming more versatile, anyone can succeed and become more open to different opportunities in life. To do so, he provides three basic rules that will see any professional through: Don't plan, exploreDon't specialize, generalizeDon't keep your head down, turn it up toward opportunity
Groundbreaking and thought provoking, Master of None is a new way forward to help businesses and professionals at all levels thrive.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: extraordinarily wealthy, ultraconservative, a vast importer of arms and the world's largest producer and exporter of oil. It has earned an infamous reputation on the international stage both for its record on human rights and its treatment of women. When British contractor D. S. Norman relocated to the Kingdom for work in the early 1990s, little could have prepared him for the culture shock that would greet him. Working in Saudi Arabia during one of its most rampant periods of commercial expansion, Norman would have to balance his western ways with a radically different desert mindset, a culture in which faith comes first and corruption is commonplace. Prisoner in Al-Khobar: A true story about the life of an expatriate in the eastern province of Saudi Arabia during the 1990s reveals the realities and idiosyncrasies of living and working in Saudi Arabia as D. S. Norman share his jaw-dropping experiences and the important lessons he learned in the Land of the Two Holy Mosques.
