Sinopsis

This eBook edition of "The Collected Works of Charles Lamb and Mary Lamb" has been formatted to the highest digital standards and adjusted for readability on all devices. Essays of Elia is a collection of essays written by Charles Lamb, first published in book form in 1823, with a second volume, Last Essays of Elia, issued in 1833. The essays in the collection first began appearing in The London Magazine in 1820 and continued to 1825. The personal and conversational tone of the essays has charmed many readers. Lamb himself is the Elia of the collection, and his sister Mary is "Cousin Bridget." Charles first used the pseudonym Elia for an essay on the South Sea House, where he had worked decades earlier; Elia was the last name of an Italian man who worked there at the same time as Charles, and after that essay the name stuck. Tales from Shakespeare is an English children's book written by Charles and Mary Lamb in 1807. The book is designed to make the stories of Shakespeare's plays familiar to the young. Mary Lamb was responsible for the comedies, while Charles wrote the tragedies; they wrote the preface between them. My Brother's Keeper tells the behind-the-scenes story of how the American president and the Israeli prime minister clashed about peace, war, and the future of the region.

Barack Obama and Benjamin Netanyahu viewed the world—and especially the Middle East—differently. The US president wanted to end what he saw as America's perpetual war against the Muslim and Arab worlds, use diplomacy to bring about a Palestinian state coexisting peacefully with Israel, and apply his signature foreign policy vision to reward the Islamic Republic of Iran in exchange for the scaling back of their nuclear pursuits. The Israeli premier wanted his country to thrive without the senseless bloodshed of terror and violence, and he was determined to protect the Jewish state from threats of annihilation by a member of the axis of evil that would one day be armed with nuclear weapons. Netanyahu wanted peace for peace, as well as the acceptance of Israel as a full-fledged part of the Middle East. In 2014, during a pivotal summer of terrorist violence, a war in Gaza, and the advancement of a nuclear deal with Iran, the two men clashed, threatening the US-Israeli strategic alliance and the future of the region. The Middle East would never be the same.

The rise of social media has reshaped the way people connect, communicate, and consume information. Over the past two decades, digital platforms have evolved from niche online communities to global networks that influence nearly every aspect of modern life. Social media is no longer just a tool for staying in touch with friends and family—it has become a powerful force in politics, business, entertainment, and culture. As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, understanding the impact of these platforms is essential.

Social media's rapid development can be traced back to the early days of the internet, when online forums and chat rooms allowed people to engage with others beyond geographical boundaries. The introduction of platforms like MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter in the early 2000s marked the beginning of a new era of digital interaction. These sites enabled users to create personal profiles, share updates, and engage in real-time conversations, setting the stage for the social media boom that followed. Today, platforms like Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and LinkedIn serve diverse purposes, from entertainment and networking to news dissemination and activism.

The influence of social media extends far beyond personal connections. Businesses have embraced these platforms to market products, engage with customers, and build brand identities. Political campaigns rely on social media to reach voters and shape public opinion. Activists use digital platforms to mobilize communities and raise awareness about pressing social issues. At the same time, the widespread use of social media has introduced challenges, including concerns about data privacy, misinformation, cyberbullying, and the mental health effects of constant digital engagement.

This combo contains the following topics:
1 - Have you ever wondered what the Maya people did? How they lived? How their empire grew? Then this is the right book for you. In this book, we'll go over the most important discoveries about the Mayans, the Central American inhabitants that were in the region hundreds of years before the journey to the New World by European settlers and conquistadores.
2 - When you think of the Aztecs, you might think of certain movies you have seen or what you've been taught in history class. And although some of those images and descriptions fit the main narrative, there is still much left to be discovered. This brief book will take you on a journey and kidnap your imagination to a faraway place in time.
3 - It’s a hard name to pronounce, but hey, it’s been the legend of Native American peoples for centuries. Was it a man? Was it a god? Was it a white person? Or was it some animal or strange thing? Quetzalcoatl is an Aztec divine being whose name originates from the Nahuatl language and meaning "valuable snake" or "Quetzal-feathered Snake." "Quetzalcoatl, in its actual sense, means 'snake of valuable plumes,' but in the allegorical sense, 'best of men,'" said Ixtlilxóchitl, a descendant of Aztec royalty and history expert of the Nahua people, in the 17th century.
4 - Emiliano Zapata Salazar was a revolutionary in Mexico. He was a key figure in the Mexican Revolt of the years 1910 until 1920, and also the primary leader of the people's revolution in the Mexican state of Morelos and the creator of the Zapatismo agrarian movement.

How does a Macho Man become a Macho Man? And what does he do with himself after getting to play "god" as a Vietnam War Commanding Officer of a Rifle Company in combat? This sequel to "Welcome to Vietnam, Macho Man" digs deep into the mind of a Khe Sanh vet. The author, Ernest Spencer, opens up and shares with the world his life experiences from both before and after surviving the longest battle in the Vietnamese War - 77 non-stop days of combat in Khe Sanh.
Ernie offers a historical recount of growing up in a bi-racial family in Hawaii, loving and learning from ever present parents, grandparents and extended family and being exposed to military exercises, and heroism from a very early age.
How does wartime service change a person?
Ernest shares his struggles with finding a place to fit back into the American Dream. Some, like the author, transition back into society very well in the eyes of the world, yet the demons deep inside are grappled with daily. Ernest's undiagnosed PTSD creates havoc in his life. He feels ashamed of himself for surviving the battle of Khe Sanh while he observed so many around him perish. His silence and the sequestering of his feelings inside causes chaos and destruction in his life.
Some veterans cannot make the transition back into their former everyday life and spend a large part of their post-war lives suffering outwardly, struggling with drug addiction, and consequently being rejected/ignored by the community around them. Ernest discovers many of these veterans and retells his attempts to rehabilitate and empower them to be healthy and productive adults. Who really stands up and supports veterans with post-war mental illnesses and what are their methods? Enjoy this book, think deeply, and give praise to our brave young soldiers and all that they've endured for our country.
