Sinopsis

The Tales of Trumplethinskin is a trilogy of satirical, children's style books based around a humorous, illustrated storybook concept. The titles are:Trumplethinskin and the Wizard BonespursTrumplethinskin in the Land of UcKTrumplethinskin and the Gigantic Peach.

In Trumplethinskin and the Gigantic Peach, the woods around Trumplethinskin's home at Mangy Logo are scary, full of poor people, and he is terrified. Dancy Nancy is growing a Gigantic Peach in there, and Trumplethinskin detests fruit. He needs Chucky Dollson, Tight-fisted Turtle, and Hennity Bennity to protect him-so he can sit in his second home at the Bigly Big White House and do nothing else but eat chocolate cake and dream about throne rooms-which they do, because he has promised them bagfuls of magic beans.

From the Royal Air Force to award-winning display flying to flight instruction, a memoir of a half century in the sky. Includes photos.Fifty Years of Flying Fun covers, in a roughly chronological order, over fifty continuous years of flying. This ranges from joining the RAF in 1962, through the author’s intriguing first operational tour on Hunters in Aden, the early days of the Jaguar in Germany and, finally in the RAF, an almost outrageous two years flying the Jaguar and Hunter with the Sultan of Oman’s Air Force. His subsequent civil flying has been exclusively in the General Aviation and flying display fields as a flying instructor and well known display pilot, including being involved in many varied and interesting display-related episodes. With in excess of 7,000 flying hours on 59 different types—and only one aircraft (Spencer Flack’s Mustang) with a working autopilot—Rod Dean gives a clear, and largely humorous, insight into the operation of a cross section of piston and jet engine vintage aircraft and his undoubted fifty years of fun since the first solo on March 19, 1963.Fifty Years of Flying Fun is not just a book for the aviation enthusiast, but for anyone wanting to learn about flying history through the memoir of a man who flew through a half century of it.

Can a former semi-pro win against the best poker players in the world?

In 2006, Johnny’s pie-in-the-sky dreams of becoming world champion were dashed when his kings ran into aces in the World Series of Poker Main Event. But lady luck was with him when he met Amy, the woman of his dreams, who soon became his wife.

Like many players, he drifted away from the game after Congress passed a law later that year that cut off funds to online poker and harkened the decline of the game. But even as Johnny returned to the working world, the itch remained.

A decade later, now with two small kids in tow, Johnny convinces Amy to take a six-week family trip from their home in rural Alabama to Las Vegas, where he will risk his $10,000 bankroll in hopes of playing in the Main Event again and winning millions. Along the way, he examines how the game has changed since 2006. Although the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was the beginning of the end of the poker boom, the game still thrives, and WSOP is Exhibit A. Johnny also muses on the outlandishness of the adult fairyland that is Vegas.

The book details the glories of saying no to your children, explains when you’ve gone too far in childproofing your home, laments our over-reliance on camcorders (‘a disease’) and suggests that the Tooth Fairy is getting robbed. The North Pole - Its Discovery...

In September 1909-after nearly two decades of determined effort and numerous attempts, during which he lost eight toes to frostbite-American polar explorer Robert E. Peary emerged from the Arctic's frozen wasteland and declared that his final expedition had been victorious: on April 6, 1909, Peary had attained the North Pole, a long-sought prize that had thwarted and even killed his predecessors.Peary's news stunned the international community because a few days earlier his rival, American explorer Frederick A. Cook, had announced a similar victory. Cook's claim-allegedly occurring April 1908-had priority over Peary's. The vehement, often vicious campaign mounted by Peary and his wealthy, powerful backers (including President Theodore Roosevelt) soon discredited Cook but also caused his own claim to be scrutinized and doubted. The conflict ignited the greatest geographical dispute in the history of exploration, a controversy that continues to spark passionate debate. Was Peary the first explorer to conquer the North Pole? The North Pole, originally published in 1910, makes available Peary's own account of his expedition in the Arctic. It provides hotly contested evidence that remains an indispensable key in deciding who deserved the coveted title "Discoverer of the North Pole." It is also a gripping adventure story that is impossible to put down.
