Summary
"The 120 Days of Sodom" (AKA The 120 Days of Sodom, or the School of Libertinage) is an unfinished novel by the French writer and nobleman Marquis de Sade. It is arguably considered the most perverted text ever put to paper and a literature classic. The novel was written in 1785 while Sade was imprisoned in the Bastille and the manuscript was lost during the storming of the Bastille. Sade wrote that he "wept tears of blood" over the manuscript's loss. The novel was finally published in 1904 after the manuscript was rediscovered and many consider this to be Sade crowning achievement. "The 120 Days of Sodom" relates the story of four wealthy men who enslave 24 mostly teenaged victims and sexually torture them while listening to stories told by old prostitutes.
