Sinopsis

Time travel, global journeys, leaps across epochs—the author takes us on a captivating voyage through time and space, blending historical events with personal adventures across diverse latitudes and longitudes. The narrative unfolds primarily in reverse chronological order, culminating in a contemporary twist: it becomes a quest for the self through time, a borderless affirmation of existence.Characters drift in and out at a relaxed, almost whimsical pace, accompanying the unconventional voyager on his explorations. There’s a bohemian laissez-faire, a lightness of being that permeates the story. The freedom to choose where and how to begin or end one’s identity—and life—without losing oneself reflects the spirit of our times, and hints at the much-discussed embrace of living in the “here and now.”Markus Michael trained as a physician in Switzerland, but instead of treating individual patients, he dedicated his career to humanitarian work in war-torn regions. For decades, he worked on the front lines of conflict, delivering aid and grappling with public health policy amid chaos and upheaval. His firsthand experience of history in motion has long fuelled his passion for understanding how the present has been shaped by the past.Earlier this year, he published a thought-provoking book on history: The Unwritten Chronicles of Western Civilizations’ Greatest Confrontations — An Imaginary Walk through an Alternate History.Markus Michael lives in São Paulo, Brazil.

Allie Whitewater was used to living between two worlds. She embraced the Native American heritage of her father and the white heritage of her mother. She was happy with both and didn't have the identity crisis many of her friends had. Growing up on a large working ranch in Montana, she had no desire to live in town, or worse, a large city. She planned on spending the rest of her life on the ranch her father started.Jacob Tucker enjoys building up the ranch he and his twin brother, Jonathan, had settled. Sure, there are dangers - rustlers, the harsh environment, Indians - but he wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. He is happy with life in the Montana territory and never once thinks there could be something, or someone, out there that could make him change his mind. But change it does when he leaves his ranch in 1867 and travels to 2013. The world has changed a lot, and so have the women - namely one called Allie Whitewater. She has the mouth of a cowpuncher, the body of an angel, and the temper of the devil. Now all he has to do is get her back to his time and hold her so tight she won't miss her fancy metal wagons and flying carriages.Jacob thinks his plan is foolproof. He just needs to kidnap Allie long enough to make her never want to return to her world. But things change as tension between the redskins and the white settlers and the army escalate. When the two cultures clash, it is up to Allie to show she is capable of walking in both worlds. She will prove to the whites that she is a force to be reckoned with, and she will prove to her ancestors that she is a spirit warrior who will fight to the death to protect her hasánni, her mate.

In The Temptation of Harringay, H. G. Wells crafts a humorous and satirical tale about ambition, vanity, and the absurdity of social aspiration. The story follows Harringay, a middle-class man obsessed with rising above his station, who becomes entangled in a farcical scheme involving a fraudulent spiritualist medium and an eccentric inventor. Lured by promises of wealth, prestige, and a life among the elite, Harringay navigates a world of deception, misplaced confidence, and comic misadventures. As his dreams unravel, Wells delivers a sharp critique of class obsession, human gullibility, and the often-empty pursuit of success. With wit and irony, this lesser-known story showcases Wells’ talent for blending satire with social commentary, offering a lighthearted yet insightful look at the folly of misguided ambition.

"THE FAT AND THE THIN," or, to use the French title, "Le Ventre de Paris," is a story of life in and around those vast Central Markets which form a distinctive feature of modern Paris. Even the reader who has never crossed the Channel must have heard of the Parisian Halles, for much has been written about them, not only in English books on the French metropolis, but also in English newspapers, magazines, and reviews; so that few, I fancy, will commence the perusal of the present volume without having, at all events, some knowledge of its subject matter.

A Dyson Sphere under construction by microbots, but the bots are scavenging one part of the sphere to construct another. And where is the civilization that designed this massive project?
"This is cutting edge, hard science fiction at its finest. This broad-minded, far-sweeping saga is both realistic and daring. The reader feels that yes, this is what the universe is like and what man's role in it will come to be." Professor John B. Rosenman, Norfolk State University.
Braxton Thorpe, is on a voyage of discovery in the starship Andromeda, headed toward the Cold Spot in the Cosmic Microwave Background, deep in the constellation of Eridanus. As he approaches the Keid triple-star system, he stops at Keid A and the planet Vulcan, home to Spock in the "Star Trek" series. Keid B & C revolve around each other, and both revolve around Keid A.
Thorpe discovers Vulcan is under attack by robotic scavengers. He follows them to Keid C, where he discovers a Dyson Sphere under construction by microbots scavenging one part of the sphere to construct another. Andromeda explores the sphere, half the size of a solar system. Suddenly, the starship is attacked by the microbots, who see the starship as raw material. After narrowly escaping, smaller spacecraft travel through the immense sphere, studying it and searching for the builders. He discovers several primitive races inside—humanoid, feline, and reptilian. While studying these races, he discovers hidden electronic uploads stemming from the original builders of the gigantic sphere.
As Thorpe begins to assemble a model of the sphere, he learns the Dyson Sphere's star is about to produce a superflare that could destroy all life inside the sphere—and even the Dyson Sphere itself. Can the explorers survive such an event? If so, can they save any of the sapient races, and will they succeed in removing the uploads of the sphere builders?
