Summary

LIO is brilliant! In this post-Calvin and Hobbes and post-Far Side world, this is the brass ring for cool!" --Dallas Morning News* LI O is a pantomime strip featuring a curious young boy whose daydreams embark from reality destined for the dark chasm where wit and sarcasm collide.Drawn in the age-old style of pantomime strips, LIO offers a decidedly new and edgy twist to the wordless comic format. That's right, LIO is so crafty it doesn't need word balloons, dialogue boxes, or clever captions. Mark Tatulli's cartoon also employs a unique drawing style influenced by cartooning greats Gahan Wilson, Charles Addams, and 19th-century satirist A. J. Volck.* In describing his strip, Tatulli explains he was eager "to bring something truly different to the comics pages . . . something to appeal to all ages, drawn in pictures only. To tell a story without text, while updating the pantomime concept with a modern audience in mind."* The result is a mind-bendingly humorous and astute journey into the darkly detailed world of young LiO--where a spit wad can put a school bus out of commission faster than a spider can hamper the efforts of the U.S. Postal Service.

How abundant can your relationship life become? Are there any real limits to what you can experience and enjoy with willing partners? In this article I'll share some candid thoughts about creating more depth in open relationships, including what I'm interested in exploring next. I really appreciate this exploration of open relationships that I've been undertaking for the past 4 years. It's been a transformational experience to say the least, not all at once but as a gradual process of unfolding and maturing over time. What was once outside my comfort zone is now firmly within it. This is a beautiful place to be, but of course I'm not the kind of person to stop and settle even when things are good. I love to keep finding new ways to learn, grow, and explore...

Candid and keenly observed, I found it laugh-out-loud funny in several places, there's a sharp, knowing level of satire throughout the book, combined with weary cynicism, and some of the scrapes and exchanges are comedy gold. Spurious Scrapper is a fast-moving and grimly hilarious novel that takes the reader into a wretched subterranean world that is as appalling as it is compelling. Highly recommended. - Rose Auburn
Fans of Trainspotting by Danny Boyle will surely enjoy this book. A must-read for those who are not afraid to dive into the darker side of life. - Stuart Brkn Johns

Sir Edward Feathers has had a brilliant career, from his early days as a lawyer in Southeast Asia, where he earned thenickname Old Filth (FILTH being an acronym for Failed In London Try Hong Kong) to his final working days as arespected judge at the English bar. Yet through it all he has carried with him the wounds of a difficult and emotionallyhollow childhood. Now an eighty-year-old widower living in comfortable seclusion in Dorset, Feathers is finally freefrom the regimen of work and the sentimental scaffolding that has sustained him throughout his life. He slips backinto the past with ever mounting frequency and intensity, and on the tide of these vivid, lyrical musings, Feathersapproaches a reckoning with his own history. Not all the old filth, it seems, can be cleaned away.Borrowing from biography and history, Jane Gardam has written a literary masterpiece reminiscent of RudyardKipling’s “Baa Baa, Black Sheep” that retraces much of the twentieth century’s torrid and momentous history
