Sinopsis

A terrible, implacable hatred. Jenny shivered. The needle had been a statement. And so too had the scene.

When Jenny Meaden moves to the quiet Cotswold town of Kerston after her husband dies, she looks forward to a peaceful new chapter in her life. But while volunteering at the local library, she stumbles upon a man slumped in his chair, a knitting needle stabbed through his chest.

Together with fellow volunteer Neeta Biddle, Jenny starts to unravel the mystery. They discover that the victim, retired schoolteacher Avery Sykes, had a past riddled with scandal and secrets—as well as a totally unexpected double life. In between sparring with the investigating officer, Detective Inspector Marek O’Keeffe, they begin to piece the clues together.

When another body is uncovered, Jenny and Neeta realize the solution must lie deep in past events. But can they get to the truth before one of them becomes the killer’s next target?

The extraordinary child-adult Prince Myshkin, confined for several years in a Swiss sanatorium suffering from severe epilepsy, returns to Russia to claim his inheritance and to find a place in healthy human society. The teeming St Petersburg community he enters is far from receptive to an innocent like himself, despite some early successes and relentless pursuit by grotesque fortune-hunters. His naive gaucheries give rise to extreme reactions among his new acquaintance, ranging from anguished protectiveness to mockery and contempt. But even before reaching the city, during the memorable train journey that opens the novel, he has encountered the demonic Rogozhin, the son of a wealthy merchant who is in thrall to the equally doomed Natasha Filippovna: beautiful, capricious and destructively neurotic, she joins with the two weirdly contrasted men in a spiralling dance of death... The Game is Afoot...

In the murky, fog-drenched streets of Victorian London, a killer prowls, leaving behind no clues but an empty house, a dead man, a woman's wedding ring, and the word RACHE scrawled in blood upon a wall. Scotland Yard's finest are utterly baffled. The brilliant but eccentric consulting detective Sherlock Holmes, however, sees the truth clearly hidden in the dust.

A Study in Scarlet is the seminal work that birthed a literary legend. Written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in 1887, this gripping novel marks the very first appearance of Sherlock Holmes and his steadfast companion, Dr. John H. Watson. Here, Watson—an army doctor freshly returned from the horrors of the Afghan War—takes up lodgings at the iconic 221B Baker Street, only to find himself swept into a sinister web of international revenge, secret societies, and brilliant forensic deduction.
    A Masterpiece of Mystery/Detective Fiction

From the meticulous analysis of cigar ashes and muddy footprints to the dramatic capture of a desperate killer, A Study in Scarlet laid the unshakeable foundation for the modern detective genre. Conan Doyle's incredible narrative seamlessly blends a chilling procedural thriller with a tragic, sweeping backstory, exploring the darkest corners of human nature and vengeance.

With an unforgettable, high-drama performance by Andre Reaves, this classic audiobook transports listeners directly to the gaslit cobblestones of 19th-century crime solving. Grab your deerstalker, sharpen your wits, and prepare to isolate the scarlet thread of murder running through the colourless skein of life.
