Sinopse

In "Alex and the Crown of Fairness," a young adventurer named Alex stumbles upon the magical kingdom of Miravelle, where boys are knights and girls are dancers. However, Alex’s journey takes a surprising turn when he realizes the kingdom’s rules are unfair and limit the dreams of its people. With the help of his best friend, Mila, Alex embarks on a quest to find the Crown of Fairness, an artifact that can change the kingdom’s laws and open the doors to new possibilities. Along the way, Alex and Mila learn important lessons about courage, empathy, and standing up for what’s right. Through teamwork and determination, they inspire the kingdom to embrace a future where everyone—no matter their gender—can pursue their dreams. This heartwarming tale teaches young readers the importance of fairness, equality, and the belief that dreams should never be limited by gender.

The Velvet Glove by Harry Harrison is a sharp, thought-provoking tale that examines what it truly means to be human. First published in Fantastic Universe in 1956, the story follows a robot named Jon Venex, built to serve humanity in a society where machines have begun to think, feel, and perhaps surpass their creators. When Jon meets a human woman who sees beyond his metal shell, the story becomes both a love story and a quiet tragedy about prejudice, purpose, and identity. With crisp dialogue and a touch of irony, Harrison explores the uneasy relationship between man and machine—long before artificial intelligence became a common theme in science fiction.
Like much of Harrison’s early work, The Velvet Glove blends social commentary with pulpy adventure energy. It reflects his fascination with how technology reshapes ethics and emotion, and how progress can expose the flaws in human nature. Beneath the futuristic surface lies a timeless question: if a machine can feel compassion, who is truly more human?
Harry Harrison (1925–2012) was an American author best known for his wit, imagination, and biting satire. Born in Stamford, Connecticut, he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II before turning to writing and illustrating for pulp magazines. He gained fame with the Stainless Steel Rat series—rollicking space adventures featuring a charming rogue—and with Make Room! Make Room! (1966), the grim novel that inspired the film Soylent Green.
Harrison’s work often mixed humor with moral inquiry, challenging the militarism, greed, and hypocrisy of modern life while celebrating intelligence and individuality. Whether through a rebellious con man or a soulful robot, his stories reminded readers that humanity’s greatest strength—and weakness—lies in its capacity to choose compassion over control.

Karthik Raghavan is good at remembering things. Like his bike routes. Or all the reasons he likes Juhi Shah—even if she doesn’t know he exists. It doesn’t help that she seems to have a crush on his archnemesis, Jacob Donnell, whose only job is to humiliate Karthik (and get his name wrong).

Karthik’s luck changes when he agrees to be in a play about the famous musician Leonard Bernstein. But he can’t tell his parents. The family store is in jeopardy and they need him delivering groceries on his bike to help save it. His mom is also worried about the financial crisis, and she’s convinced that studying hard
is the only way to succeed. But Karthik is having fun being Lenny. Besides, what if acting is Karthik’s special talent? And what if acting is the only way to catch Juhi’s attention? With all the pressure from his family, will Karthik be able to imagine and hope when he’s not sure what will happen next?

Moving and heartfelt, this middle-grade novel from Sheela Chari, the awardwinning author of Finding Mighty, is about finding your place by following your heart.

Izaghi was born with a dream in his heart and a string on his chest—an invisible thread that tied him to a home he longed to leave, but could never forget.
Armed with a homemade device of foam claps, strings, and a small engine, seven-year-old Izaghi floats beyond the edges of his world. He visits villages where music shapes the rain, deserts where echoes carry truths from the past, and markets where stars are traded for stories. Each place holds a piece of his heart—each goodbye leaves a quiet ache.
As the wind carries him from adventure to adventure, Izaghi learns that not every dream is meant to be kept, and not every wish leads where you expect. But some lessons wait in the quiet places:
In the voice of a mother long gone.
In the forgiveness of a friend he thought he’d left behind.
In the gardens that bloom from kindness alone.
This is the story of a boy who learns that becoming yourself means remembering all the names you’ve ever been called—son, friend, dreamer, wanderer—and knowing when to let go.
For readers who believe in hope, in wonder, and in the quiet strings that pull us home.

I wrote I Was Made Special for two reasons: For anybody who was born with a disability like me, to reassure them that just because they were born differently than everyone else: doesn't mean that they aren't any less special. Also to try and discourage other children from bullying their peers. I hope this book help teach the importance of having high self-esteem as we all follow this journey and try to learn a few things along the way
