Sinopse

Zambezi River Rituals explores the profound spiritual connection between the Zambezi River and the communities along its banks. It examines how the river isn't just a geographical feature but a vibrant entity deeply embedded in African religious traditions, shaping local mythologies and sacred ceremonies. The book unveils the Zambezi's role as a sacred locale where ancestral spirits reside, facilitating interaction between the earthly and spiritual realms. One intriguing insight is how these spiritual beliefs influence environmental interactions and the daily lives of the people.

The book progresses by first introducing the Zambezi as both a physical and spiritual entity, then delving into its significance as a dwelling place for spirits, analyzing associated myths and legends, and exploring various rituals performed along its banks. Through ethnographic studies and oral histories, the author presents a holistic view of the river's spiritual ecology.

The study of the Zambezi River as a cultural keystone provides a unique lens for understanding the intersection of religious beliefs, social structures, and environmental stewardship in this History World region.

This book looks at American life during a pivotal time (1950-2024) in American history: the Turn. It covers the postwar booms, social movements, the Reagan revolution, the Gulf wars, the war on terror as well as counterculture, protest movements, and the election of two unique presidents. The Turn looks at 75 years from the perspective of social change and modes of thought and the concomitant tension, conflict, and controversy that disaffected Americans who, despite their best efforts to live normal lives, could not escape from a miasma of discontent. The wars, the violence associated with protests, financial crises and a global pandemic, all came at great human cost to many Americans families. This book looks at effects of these occurrences on American society: examining such topics as illiberal religions, the corrupt media, the trappings of greed in politics, globalism, the woke culture; the role of film, television, and music; and more.

    Stop Self-Sabotage: The Practice...

Understanding self-sabotage is the first step.

But understanding alone doesn’t change the pattern.

You can recognize the moment you're about to procrastinate…
see yourself pulling away from opportunity…
or feel the urge to ruin something that was going well…

    …and still sabotage it anyway.

That gap between awareness and action is where most people stay stuck.

This audiobook focuses on what to actually do in that moment.

Stop Self-Sabotage: The Practice of Self-Trust provides the practical skills needed to interrupt self-sabotage and start building a different response.

Across five focused sessions, you'll learn how to:

    • Recognize self-sabotage in real time before it takes over
    • Pause between urge and action so you can choose differently
    • Build tolerance for success, visibility, and progress
    • Work with discomfort instead of escaping it through sabotage
    • Create external support systems that reinforce change
    • Take action toward what you want even when resistance appears

    Self-sabotage isn’t a discipline problem.

It’s a deep emotional pattern designed to protect you — even when that protection is no longer needed.

Breaking that pattern requires more than motivation.

    It requires practice.

The practices in this audiobook gradually build the capacity to stay with success, tolerate discomfort, and make choices that align with what you actually want.

This is Book 2 in the Self-Sabotage series.

    Not quick fixes.
    Not motivational tricks.

But practical tools that work when you practice them consistently.

Because self-sabotage doesn’t disappear through insight alone.

It changes through practice… and self-trust built one decision at a time.

Brought to you by Altrusian Grace Media and narrated by Matthew Schmitz.

The Twelve Keys of Basil Valentine is a widely reproduced alchemical book attributed to Basil Valentine. It was first published in 1599 by Johann Thölde who is likely the book's true author. It is presented as a sequence of alchemical operations encoded allegorically in words, to which images have been added. The first Basil Valentine book to discuss the keys is Ein kurtz summarischer Tractat, von dem grossen Stein der Uralten ("A Short Summary Tract: Of the great stone of the ancients"), 1599. The first part of the book is a discussion of general alchemical principles and advice about the philosopher's stone. The second half of Ein kurtz summarischer Tractat, under the subtitle "The Twelve Keys", contains twelve short chapters. Each chapter, or "key", is an allegorical description of one step in the process by which the philosopher's stone may be created. With each step, the symbolic names (Deckname, or code name) used to indicate the critical ingredients are changed, just as the ingredients themselves are transformed. The keys are written in such a fashion as to conceal as well as to illuminate: only a knowledgeable reader or alchemical adept was expected to correctly interpret the veiled language of the allegorical text and its related images. Volume 2 of Three Wise Monkeys explores Catholic Mozambique's role in the leisure economy of Protestant South Africa, as a place where bachelor miners and Randlords alike could project their fantasies of subtropical exotica, whether in the raucous bars and brothels of the port or in the development of the upmarket Polana Hotel and the vision of segregated 'tourist zones' for race-conscious Rand holidaymakers.
Mozambique's liminal place in the leisure and entertainment universe was nowhere better represented than in the rise and eventual fall of Lourenço Marques Radio. For decades, LM Radio beamed the hit songs of the day, and a certain vision of post-war modernity, to white South Africans increasingly in thrall to the stifling rule of Calvinist churches, the National Party and the Broederbond-dominated SABC. The eventual triumph of the SABC in muzzling LM Radio was a foretaste of the police state that came to imprison South African minds during the 1960s and 1970s.
