Sinopse

This book is an educational text written to introduce our readers to Western Civilization. How it was born and how it grew to become the world's leading civilization in the last century, for better or for worse. The text tells the story of the genesis and decline of our civilization through two revolutionary figures: Jesus of Nazareth and Karl Marx. The thesis on which the book is based is that just as Christianity erased Greco-Roman civilization from the face of the earth, Socialism, transformed into Progressivism, is killing Western Civilization dragging it toward suicide. The disease that is overwhelming us is nihilism. We affirm that Progressives are the new Christians because, as the first Christians did, they are the bearers of a disease that is terminal for our society: nihilism. This book is the history of nihilism starting from Jesus of Nazareth and ending with our Progressives. We must point out that although Jesus’ vision included nihilistic elements, it also laid the ethical foundations that shaped Western Civilization.  In contrast, Marx’s revelation, deeply nihilistic, influenced modern Progressivism leading to existential challenges for our civilization. In other words, our future is a black hole.Fom Jesus to Marx, by Marcello Caroti, is a profound historical and anthropological exploration that starts from the revolutionary figure of Jesus Christ to arrive at the modern ideologies of Karl Marx.In this intriguing journey through the centuries, the author sheds light on how the teachings and actions of Jesus influenced not only religious thought but also the social and political currents that have shaped the modern world. The book begins by analysing Jesus' mission in detail, exploring his differences with John the Baptist and how his message of hope and salvation stood out in an era of rigid social and religious divisions. The author then traces an intellectual and historical path that connects the doctrines of Jesus with the theories of Marx, highlighting how Christianity influenced and shaped Marxist thought. With clear language and engaging narrative, "From Jesus to Marx" is not only essential reading for history and antropology buffs, but also for anyone interested in understanding the roots of modern thought and its impact on society. The book offers a unique and thought-provoking perspective on two of the most influential figures in human history and their lasting impact.

Spotlighting one of today's most talked about and successful musicians, this unauthorized biography showcases the Grammy-nominated talent of hip-hop artist Aubrey Graham, aka Drake. The account reveals the entertainer as a triple threat: a rapper, a singer, and an actor whose journey to fame has been nothing short of atypical. From his debut going double platinum and selling millions of copies in the United States alone to topping the Billboard 200 charts and spawning numerous hits, this chronicle reviews Drake's numerous achievements, including the record-breaking digital popularity of his sophomore release. The celebrity's acting career is also touched upon, detailing how he is already being touted as the next Will Smith — another respectable rapper and an award-winning actor — after starring in nine seasons of Degrassi: The Next Generation, one of the most consistently watched drama series for teens in North America. Conducting a journey through the life of a 25-year-old wonder, the book travels from Drake's childhood in Toronto to his emergence as an unlikely global pop culture hero — breaking all of the music industry and societal clichês in the process — illustrating what makes this modern-day Renaissance man tick.

The Asuka Period (538–710) marks a pivotal era in Japan’s history, serving as the transitional phase between the ancient Kofun Period and the Nara Period. This era is often considered the birthplace of Japanese civilization, a time when the political, religious, and cultural foundations of the nation began to take shape. It was during this period that Japan first came into direct contact with continental Asia, particularly through the introduction of Buddhism, the establishment of a centralized government, and the adoption of Chinese-style political and legal systems.
The early years of the Asuka Period were dominated by the Soga clan, who played a crucial role in the political and religious developments of the time. Their influence can be seen in their advocacy for the adoption of Buddhism, which arrived in Japan from Korea around the mid-sixth century. Buddhism’s introduction, however, was met with resistance from the powerful native Shinto religious leaders and aristocracy, creating a conflict that would shape the religious landscape of Japan for centuries to come.
Despite early opposition, Buddhism gradually took hold in Japan. The Soga clan, with the support of the royal family, used Buddhism as a tool to consolidate power and gain legitimacy. By the late 6th century, the religion had become deeply integrated into the fabric of Japanese society, influencing not only spiritual practices but also politics, art, and culture.
