Wini's family of enchanters runs a little bakery, but with the prices of magical ingredients skyrocketing, they're going under. Desperate to save her family's business, Wini takes a risk by casting a (sort of illegal) spell that would allow them to gather their own supply of their most needed magical ingredient: love. But the spell doesn't work. And Wini soon discovers that it didn't just not work; it backfired. Badly. Now the whole town is in danger, and the Enchantment Agency is sniffing around for whoever cast the wayward spell. It's just been Kal and her dad for as long as she can remember. They've weathered everything together, including Kal's mental-health struggles. But just as they're about to move to a new town for a fresh start, Kal's grandfather?who mysteriously vanished years ago?has suddenly reentered their lives with a desire to make amends. He joins them in opening their bookstore in the new town, but Kal can't help but wonder if he has anything to do with the whispers around her new home about wicked magic. And it's not just the whispers of the magical books in their shop. When Wini and Kal cross paths?both hoping for the chance to finally make a friend without worrying about their family histories following them?the girls bond over being fellow outcasts. In January 1776, George Washington had a problem: the British army controlled the city of Boston. The colonial army needed to force the British to leave. But how?

Washington had a solution: ask his engineer Rufus Putnam to solve the problem. They needed to take control of the high ground, Dorchester Heights, just south of Boston. They could place cannons there to bombard the British army.

Cannons on Dorchester Heights meant the colonials needed to build walls to protect their soldiers. But January in Massachusetts was so cold that the ground was frozen. No one could dig foundations for walls. Putnam needed an engineering miracle.

Courage and engineering ingenuity are celebrated in this intriguing story of the role of engineering in the Revolutionary War.

    THE GALACTIC FEDERATION OF LIGHT
Book 5 of 6 The bloodstar rebellion
This is the fifth book in the series and the plot is as follows:
General Vex Draxus, disillusioned with the Galactic Federation, declares independence for the Zorathian Free State and unveils the Bloodstar—a warship created using forbidden black-hole forge technology. Unknown to Draxus, the Bloodstar's core contains a trapped cosmic entity, and the Kessari are secretly aiding his rebellion to further their own agenda.
As the Federation debates between negotiation and military action, the Elurians discover the entity's presence. When the Bloodstar activates, the entity awakens and begins transforming the ship, threatening millions of lives.
In a desperate gambit, Draxus—realizing he was manipulated—joins a Federation strike team to deploy a quantum resonance disruptor at the ship's core. Before being forced back into dormancy, the entity reveals that the precursor homeworld is actually a prison containing ancient beings who are beginning to stir.
The rebellion collapses, but a greater threat now looms on the horizon.
I do hope you enjoy this fifth instalment, and it's only $3.
the initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 minutes sets the scene, so to speak, a fast paced modern beat that gets you ready for the out of this world story. The closing music ends the tale on a dark foreboding beat anticipating the next instalment.
The story itself runs to about 14 minutes and is narrated in my own voice.
I do hope you enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come!
