Sinopse

Sport is not only important for us humans, but also for our four-legged friends. Dogs are naturally very active animals that need a lot of exercise to stay healthy. Sport offers them not only physical but also mental challenges and promotes their health and well-being. In this article, we will take a closer look at the benefits of exercise for dogs. Improving physical health: Sporting activities such as running, walking, swimming and agility can help to improve the physical health of dogs. Regular exercise can help reduce the risk of obesity, heart disease, diabetes and other health problems. It can also help strengthen muscles and bone structure and increase a dog's stamina and fitness. Mental stimulation: Exercise also provides mental stimulation for dogs. When dogs improve their mental abilities through sporting challenges, this can lead to better cognitive function and increased mental stability. Dog sports such as agility require a high level of concentration and coordination, which can improve a dog's mental stimulation and cognitive abilities

In the plainest of terms, baseball scouts are tasked with seeing the future—a distant future, at that. Baseball's long developmental arc leaves room for plenty of twists and turns on the way to The Show. Some prospects shoot like arrows toward their projected potential, while others fizzle out or chart an unexpected course.

Joey Votto was a lightly scouted high schooler out of Ontario. Charlie Blackmon was once coveted for his left arm more than his offensive potential. Mookie Betts "lost interest in the draft" as he went unselected round after round. Jacob deGrom refused to relinquish his role as a shortstop. Lorenzo Cain never even put on a baseball glove until high school—and then wore it on the wrong hand.

Smart, Wrong, and Lucky explores how first impressions measure up to their aftermaths: the draft, years of progression, and for a talented few, major-league success. MLB.com writer Jonathan Mayo profiles a diverse range of modern stars and looks at them through the eyes of those who noticed them first as prospects.

Featuring exclusive interviews with scouts, players, coaches, and more, this fascinating collection of origin stories is an ode to baseball's endless possibilities.

"The Only Blasphemy" is an essay from mountaineer legend John Long chronicling his solo ascent at Joshua Tree National Park's Half Dome with climber extraordinaire and childhood friend John Bachar.

John Long (born July 21, 1953) is an American rock climber and author. A skilled free climber, Long popularized "free soloing" (climbing with no rope) during his high school days out at Joshua Tree National Park, first introducing John Bachar to the practice in 1974 with their now fêted ascent of Double Cross, at Joshua Tree. Long's many climbing feats include the first one-day ascent of the most sought after rock climb in North America, the 3,000 foot Nose route on El Capitan, on Memorial Day, 1975, with Jim Bridwell and Billy Westbay. The following year, partnered with Dale Bard, Long made the second one-day ascent of El Cap via the West Face, in the remarkable time of five hours. He followed this with blitz ascents of Leaning Tower, Washington Column, Half Dome and Ribbon Falls, precipitating the modern speed climbing movement so popular today, both in Yosemite Valley and beyond.

Gary Telles has been narrating audiobooks for the past ten years. A veteran stage actor, he has performed classical, contemporary and original theatre across the country, in addition to appearing on television, radio and CD-ROM.

Although the practices in this book originated in ancient China, these exercises are meant to benefit all people. The system as a whole is known as "Qigong." "Qi" refers to the life force energy that emanates within all things, material and non-material, and "gong" means work, or skill. Practicing the meditations and exercises described in this book will certainly give your Qi a boost, and you will finish feeling revitalized and refreshed, rather than worked-out and exhausted.
