Synopsis

The concept of gravity, as defined by Sir Isaac Newton in the 17th century, explains the force that attracts two bodies towards each other. This fundamental force is responsible for keeping planets in orbit around the sun, holding us firmly on the ground, and governing the motion of objects in our everyday lives. Newton's law of universal gravitation states that every mass attracts every other mass, with a strength that increases with mass and decreases with the square of the distance between them. Without this force, our understanding of the universe and the very structure of matter would be profoundly altered.

When fourteen-year-old AnnaGrey meets a horned horse-like creature called an aeobanach in the forbidden Wildwood, she crosses the threshold from our world to a magical one in the hope of finding answers about her night-vision ability. She's only too eager to leave everything behind—her mom's secrecy about the past, her dad's far-fetched tales, and especially the mean boy at school, Cross Silverstone. She and the aeobanach embark on a journey to create a potion that will change the aeobanach into its human form. But their quest is complicated by rebels seeking to overthrow a king who's more interested in finding his long-lost son than ruling a kingdom.

After being captured and accused of being a rebel against the throne, AnnaGrey learns she might know where the king's son, Silverstone, is. The king makes her a deal: bring his son back to the magical realm, and he'll not only release her aeobanach, but he'll help AnnaGrey discover the truth about herself. AnnaGrey must convince the boy who bullies her—who may be a kindred spirit in disguise—to come with her to the magical world so she can free her friend, get information about her night-vision ability, and go home—where the true answers about her abilities lie.

    The #1 Bestselling series!

CALL OF THE FEARLESS is book #11 in Morgan Rice’s bestselling epic fantasy series KINGS AND SORCERERS (which begins with RISE OF THE DRAGONS, a free download)!

In CALL OF THE FEARLESS, the fragile balance continues to shift as each faction races toward their ultimate goal. Lyra, once a beacon of healing light, now commands her first territory with growing confidence, using a refined version of crystal magic to transform willing followers into something new – neither thrall nor human, but something she believes transcends both. Far across the shattered kingdoms, her twin brother Kael has found temporary refuge among the resistance, though visions of his sister's transformation plague his dreams and leave him questioning what remains of the bond they once shared.

As Kyra and Kyle launch their boldest offensive yet against Isolde's strongholds, Merk undertakes a solo mission to recover a legendary weapon with the power to shatter crystal enchantments forever. Meanwhile, secrets long buried begin to surface – Maven confronts the shocking truth of her artificial creation, while cracks form in the unholy alliance between the Crystal Queen and Shadow Witch. With giant rebels seizing control of key fortresses and ancient powers awakening across the land, the twins find themselves drawn inexorably toward each other across vast distances, their powers resonating with increasing intensity as the final confrontation between light and shadow approaches.

With its strong atmosphere and complex characters, KINGS AND SORCERERS is a sweeping saga of knights and warriors, of kings and lords, of honor and valor, of magic, destiny, monsters and dragons. It is a story of love and broken hearts, of deception, ambition and betrayal. It is fantasy at its finest, inviting us into a world that will live with us forever, one that will appeal to all ages and genders.

In rural Iowa in 1941, twelve-year-old Peggy's quiet life is turned upside down by refugee arrivals, first love, and a heartbreaking diagnosis.Growing up a farm girl, Peggy's life has never been particularly exciting. But a lot changes in 1941. Her friend Joe starts acting strange around her. The Quaker hostel nearby reopens to house Jewish refugees from Europe, including a handsome boy named Gunther and a troubled professor of nothing. And her cousin and best friend, Delia, is diagnosed with leukemia—and doesn't even know it. Peggy has always been rational. She may not be able to understand poetry and speak in metaphors like Delia, but she has to believe she can find a way out of this mess, for both of them. There has to be a cure. And yet the more she tries to control, the more powerless she feels. She can't make Gunther see her the way she sees him. She can't help the Professor find his missing daughter. She's tired of feeling young and naive, but growing up is proving even worse. A historical coming-of-age novel that feels as alive and present as today, Scattergood offers even listeners familiar with World War II a fascinating new glimpse of history, far from the battlefields of Europe and the shores of New York City. H.M. Bouwman presents a raw and unapologetic snapshot of a girl battling her own shortcomings and the random nature of life.A Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection
