Sinopsis

Mindful Walks offers a science-backed blueprint for transforming daily walks into powerful tools for stress management and mental clarity. Blending cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) principles with mindfulness practices, the book reveals how rhythmic, sensory-focused walking can rewire stress responses by leveraging neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to adapt through experience. Central to its approach is the dual-action effect: physical movement primes the brain for change, while mindful awareness interrupts harmful thought patterns, a synergy supported by fMRI studies showing reduced stress-related amygdala activity.

The book stands out with its structured 21-day protocol, featuring practical micro-practices like five-minute sensory scans that redirect focus to sights, sounds, and textures. These techniques, grounded in clinical research, are designed for time-strapped individuals. A 2022 meta-analysis cited in the text highlights a 31% average reduction in perceived stress among consistent practitioners. Early chapters unpack the neuroscience of cortisol reduction, while later sections provide actionable strategies, such as using bilateral stimulation (the natural left-right rhythm of walking) to enhance cognitive flexibility.

What makes Mindful Walks uniquely valuable is its rejection of vague advice in favor of measurable, step-by-step methods. It adapts ancient mindfulness traditions and modern CBT into urban-friendly routines, addressing obstacles like consistency and physical limitations. By framing walking as both a biological stress regulator and a cognitive reset tool, the book empowers readers to build emotional resilience through an activity they already do—turning pavement into a path toward calm.

Death comes too soon for some and too late for others, but in the end it does come for us all. Yet we spend much of our lives ignoring it, fearing it, or attempting to postpone it. But if death is inescapable, how should Christians prepare?
Centuries ago, medieval Christians developed a guide to dying well known as "the art of dying" (ars moriendi, in Latin) that the Protestant Reformers developed further. In this compassionate and hopeful book, Robert Kolb recovers and adds to this rich tradition to help Christians face the shadow of death in the light of the resurrection.
Reflecting on Scripture, hymns, and his own personal experience, he walks with you through the valley, reminding you every step of the way that the risen Jesus shines brighter than the thickest darkness. If you have received a dire diagnosis, are walking alongside the dying, or are simply trying to come to grips with your own mortality and wisely number your days, Kolb will show you how to focus on the comfort provided by our risen Lord, who alone has the words of life.

She signed up for the sisterhood, free cars, and the promise of a successful business of her own. Instead, she ended up with an addiction, broken friendships, and the rubble of a toppled pyramid . . . scheme.
Hey, Hun: Sales, Sisterhood, Supremacy, and the Other Lies Behind Multilevel Marketing is the eye-opening, funny, and dangerous personal story of author Emily Lynn Paulson rising to the top of the pyramid in the multilevel marketing (MLM) world, only to recognize that its culture and business practices went beyond a trendy marketing scheme and into the heart of white supremacy in America.
A significant polemic on how MLMs operate, Hey, Hun expertly lays out their role in the cultural epidemic of isolation and the cult-like ideologies that course through their trainings, marketing, and one-on-one interactions.

Mental Health, specifically anxiety, is the number one health issue worldwide, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). This mind-illness is a tragic situation, but what is even more tragic is science, philosophy, and religion don't know what the mind is! How can you expect to alleviate anxiety when you don't understand the foundation?
Mind Refreshed broaches the crux of the matter. This book is a practical workbook following Sam Kneller's Mind-Body Problem Solved, where he explains what consciousness and mind are based on theology. Genesis 2:7 says God breathed neshama (the breath of life) into each human. This is consciousness. Job 32:8 reveals there's a second spirit in humans, the ruach. These two spirits work intimately to confer on humans their humanity.
Humanity can be summarized by the five traits of consciousness each human possesses: Reasoning, Purpose, Conduct, Socialization, and Rulership. When these traits are in alignment, there is a sense of peacefulness; the opposite leads to anxiety.
The key point to remember is that this mental makeup applies to all human beings regardless of race, beliefs, or gender. The solution to anxiety is Biblical, but it applies to all people because everyone possesses consciousness and a mind. Every person is diverse because each of us uses or misuses the above five traits differently.
Alleviating anxiety involves identifying the most manageable barriers to hurdle in these five areas of our lives and replacing them with doorways to walk through. The real question is, what are the doorways, and where do we find them?
Mind Refreshed reveals this. It is a practical workbook that will help you alleviate your anxiety slowly but surely and replace it with the peace you crave.

In October 1962, American spy planes discovered the Soviets were building nuclear missile sites in Cuba, and intelligence officials informed President John F. Kennedy of this on October 16th. It went without saying that nuclear missile sites located just miles off the coast of the American mainland posed a grave threat to the country, especially because missiles launched from Cuba would reach their targets in mere minutes. That would throw off important military balances in nuclear arms and locations that had previously ensured the Cold War stayed cold. Almost all senior American political figures agreed that the sites were offensive and needed to be removed, but how? Ultimately, Kennedy's administration crafted an eventual plan that sought to avoid all-out war: a blockade of Cuba.
In the weeks and months following the crisis, Kennedy sought to ease nuclear tensions. By 1963, the first agreement was signed to limit the testing of nuclear devices, and the habit of secretly taping all meetings, phone calls, and other communications continued, due to the great assistance the practice had provided throughout the crisis.
As it turned out, October 1962 was probably the closest the Soviet Union and United States came to formally engaging in a war against each other, but of course, the possibility of a destructive nuclear war had been contemplated years before the Cuban Missile Crisis. That doomsday scenario is precisely why the federal government was working on a secret nuclear fallout bunker underneath the Greenbrier Hotel in West Virginia in the years preceding the crisis. Its existence would remain a secret for decades until being declassified shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union, and to this day the bunker remains both a source of curiosity and mystery.
