Summary

A man is found dead in a canal in Copenhagen. Preliminary indications suggest he drowned or died of hypothermia. Soon, however, the coroner confirms it was a murder. Inspector Leif Anders Pedersen starts his investigation.

Several clues lead him to a suspect who has well-founded reasons to have killed the victim and so the mystery murder seems to be solved.

Unfortunately, the following day the police finds another body in a boat stranded in another canal. The only thing in common between the victims is their Swedish nationality.

Roger Ferris is one of the CIA's soldiers in the war on terrorism. He has come out of Iraq with a shattered leg and an intense mission-to penetrate the network of a master terrorist known only as "Suleiman." Ferris's plan for getting inside Suleiman's tent is inspired by a masterpiece of British intelligence during World War II: He prepares a body of lies, literally the corpse of an imaginary CIA officer who appears to have accomplished the impossible by recruiting an agent within the enemy's ranks. This scheme binds friend and foe in a web of extraordinary subtlety and complexity, and when it begins to unravel, Ferris finds himself flying blind into a hurricane. His only hope is the urbane head of Jordan's intelligence service-a man who might be an Arab version of John le Carre's celebrated spy, George Smiley. But can Ferris trust him?

The United States goes to war against the queen spiders that threaten to overtake the human race forever in this thrilling and horrifying finale of the “captivating, engaging, and completely terrifying” (My Guilty Obsession) internationally bestselling Hatching series. The world is on the brink of apocalypse. Zero Day has come. The only thing more terrifying than millions of spiders is the realization that those spiders work as one. But among the government, there is dissent: do we try to kill all of the spiders, or do we gamble on Professor Guyer’s theory that we need to kill only the queens? For President Stephanie Pilgrim, it’s an easy answer. She’s gone as far as she can—more than two dozen American cities hit with tactical nukes, the country torn asunder—and the only answer is to believe in Professor Guyer. Unfortunately, Ben Broussard and the military men who follow him don’t agree, and Pilgrim, Guyer, and the loyal members of the government have to flee, leaving the question: what’s more dangerous, the spiders or ourselves?
