At Hawthorne High, blending in is practically a survival tactic. But for Ember Moore, standing out is a lifestyle. 
 
With her goth vibes, jet-black hair, and combat boots, she’s not here to play by anyone else’s rules. Her dream? Investigative journalism. Her reality? Navigating a school obsessed with cliques and status, where friends are few, and going solo is the only way she rolls.
 
Enter Brady Watson. New guy, star athlete, and way too charming for his own good. He’s got the school wrapped around his finger—except for Ember, whose ‘I-don’t-care’ attitude makes her even more of a mystery. Brady’s used to winning, but breaking through Ember’s walls? That’s a whole new challenge.
 
When Brady discovers that Ember’s sister, Willow, is off-limits to dating until Ember finds a boyfriend, he comes up with a wild plan: a fake relationship. It’s the perfect setup to help his friend Keith get closer to Willow. Ember’s all in—after all, what’s the harm in pretending?
