Sinopsis

Leesa Harker’s fabulous Glasgow-based parody of 50 Shades tells of the adventures of Buckfast-swigging Maggie Muff, who meets Mr Big at the Labour. Tall, dark and shaggable he may be, but his interests are far from conventional, and when he introduces Maggie to the Red Room of Pain she realises that she may have bitten off more than she can chew.

If you’re looking for books like 50 Shades of Grey, but want something funnier, filthier and set in the heart of Glasgow, this is the perfect book for you. The inspiration for the sell-out play, starring Leah MacRae from Gary Tank Commander.

Lefty: Haven't you read about the dangers of drinking?Dusty: I have. And it led me to give up reading.Like the News from Lake Wobegon and Guy Noir, Private Eye, The Lives of the Cowboys sketch has become a signature part of A Prairie Home Companion. Each week, radio listeners can't wait to hear Lefty's latest poem and Dusty's latest rant.In six complete sketches drawn from the radio show, the two pardners cope with hangovers and citrusy aftershave, try to get in the Christmas mood (not much luck there), meet a vampire, drive a herd of 10,000 free range chickens, tangle with a territorial poet named Big Messer, pay a visit to the New York Public Library, and wind up in the San Luis Obispo County Jail for mistaking a cocker spaniel for a coyote. Each is a glimpse into daily life in and mostly out of the saddle.Includes four songs.Garrison Keillor stars as Lefty; Tim Russell as Dusty; with Sue Scott, Tom Keith, Danielle De Vecchio, and Julie Boyd.

A comic dialogue written in John Collier's idiosyncratic version of the 18th century South Lancashire dialect together with a collection of 19th century texts on Collier and his work. Egged on by Meary (Mary), Tummus (Thomas) recounts the series of misadventures that ensue when he makes a trip to Rochdale on an errand for his master. First published in 1746, the text grew over subsequent editions as Collier expanded the story, added a preface in which he berates publishers who had pirated his work, and inflated and amended his glossary. The text read here is the final version of the preface, dialogue and glossary, which appeared in an 1862 edition of Collier's works. Collier's texts are followed by several accounts of Collier's life and commentaries on his work, Elijah Riding's 1860 'plain English' translation of the Tummus and Meary text, and three poems set at Collier's graveside in Rochdale. (Summary by Phil Benson)

But being nice is just not the way to get what you want. And this book is about getting what you want. Not in a finding happiness, giving back to the world, being grateful for what you have sort of way. But in a ruling your world, being the most desired, powerful badass in the room way, so you can come out on top of any situation: guys, career, friends, enemies, whatever. How does a betch make that happen? Here are some highlights:DON'T BE EASY.DON'T BE POOR.DON'T BE UGLY.We didn't come up with these life lessons. We're just the ones who wrote it all down. This is not self-help. Self-help is for fat people and divorcées. This is how to deal with your problems when you have no problems. You're welcome.

The story of how luvvie actor Herbert Willemott encountered one of the worst playwrights of the age, Jefferson Trilby.
"One of the most persistent and thick-skinned pretenders to the art was an individual named Jefferson Trilby, a man of good stature and a glimmering of wit, who always seemed to find in everything an ingredient which would turn him from a cause for optimism into a reason to boil one’s own head."
