Sinopsis

Every man walks with a shadow . . . but what happens when he acquires a second one? Just ask Brazos—a dead ringer for Jack Palance who’s a cold-blooded killer for hire with blood on his hands and a posse on his tail.
Desperate for cash, Brazos accepts $200 to gun down a local man named Brant. He’ll earn every penny . . . but in the end there’ll be the devil to pay. Because to put a bullet in Brant means putting one in his partner as well—an eerie stranger schooled in the black art of witchcraft. This is one killing that brings with it a deadly curse—and a second shadow.
As Brazos is about to discover, the Wild West doesn’t get any wilder than when a man is damned to live—and die—in the Shadows from Boot Hill.
A note from L. Ron Hubbard, written many years ago, that could as well be addressed to you, today’s reader: “Dear Range Boss: Four million of my words have been published in fifty different magazines. . . . Just now I’m larruping fantasy fiction more than anything else, though I’ve been writing Westerns for some time, too. Hope your readers like Shadows from Boot Hill. The Old West was superstitious in the extreme and . . . reeks with more fantasy than The Arabian Nights.”
Also includes the Western adventures The Gunner from Gehenna</i<, in which a plot to steal a miner’s gold reveals how a good man can go bad . . . and a bad man can do good, and Gunman!, the story of an aging gunfighter turned lawman who shows his town what a real man is made of.
“A minor masterpiece.” —author Will Murray

Laced with humor, rich historical detail from Charles Dickens' life, and clever winks to his work, Samantha Silva's Mr. Dickens and His Carol is an irresistible new take on a cherished classic.
Charles Dickens is not feeling the Christmas spirit. His newest book is an utter flop, the critics have turned against him, relatives near and far hound him for money. While his wife plans a lavish holiday party for their ever-expanding family and circle of friends, Dickens has visions of the poor house. But when his publishers try to blackmail him into writing a Christmas book to save them all from financial ruin, he refuses. And a serious bout of writer's block sets in.
Frazzled and filled with self-doubt, Dickens seeks solace in his great palace of thinking, the city of London itself. On one of his long night walks, in a once-beloved square, he meets the mysterious Eleanor Lovejoy, who might be just the muse he needs. As Dickens' deadlines close in, Eleanor propels him on a Scrooge-like journey that tests everything he believes about generosity, friendship, ambition, and love. The story he writes will change Christmas forever.
Full of holiday cheer and Victorian whimsy, Mr. Dickens and His Carol is the perfect audiobook to instill listeners with the Christmas spirit.

A band of misfits boards an airship to search for utopia, in this novel by the author of The Balloonist, a National Book Award finalist: “A delight” (Philip Pullman, author of The Amber Spyglass).   An unemployed American metaphysician, a perpetually ill English nurse, a guilt-ridden German captain—they and a handful of others are about to board an airship called The League of Nations. Under the seductive spell of Moira, a mix of mystic, cult leader, and prophet, these haunted men and broken women will go in search of a mysterious polar promised land—but the journey may not take them where they expect it to . . .   Set in the years after the First World War, this is a uniquely imaginative novel from an author praised by the Chicago Tribune as “a gifted craftsman, a meticulous writer whose powers as a storyteller are as compelling as the sexual tensions he imagines.”   “His sympathy for such a range of characters in their crazinesses, their various kinds of loneliness, their sheer comedy is wonderful. I think it’s one of his very best.” —Philip Pullman, author of The Amber Spyglass   “As stirring and beautiful as one of the airships that MacDonald Harris so obviously delighted in . . . Witty, sexy, surprising, and so generous to his cast of crackpots and con-artists and heartsore seekers.” —Owen King, author of Double Feature   “[The author] weaves a magical web of words in his narrative of mysticism, séances and a dirigible named The League of Nations . . . The action is inspired and written in undeniably gorgeous prose.” —Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

Winner of the PEN/Hemingway Award * A National Bestseller“An exceptional story collection.” —New York Times Book ReviewThe well-intentioned protagonists of Brief Encounters with Che Guevera—including a disillusioned NGO worker, the wife of a special operations officer, and an obssessed ornithologist—are caught, to both disastrous and hilarious effect, in the maelstrom of political and social upheaval surrounding them. With masterful pacing and a robust sense of the absurd, each story is a self-contained adventure, steeped in the heady mix of tragedy and danger, excitement and hope, that characterizes countries in transition. An intelligent and keenly observed collection, Brief Encounters with Che Guevera marks the arrival of a striking and resonant new voice that speaks adeptly to the intimate connection between the foreign, the familiar, and the inescapably human.

But passion ignites between them, and they are discovered. Honor demands they wed, and while Tobias finds himself unwillingly drawn to the bewitching beauty, he must do everything not to tempt the passion that burns in him for her, lest it leads to disastrous consequences.
