Sinopsis

As the scents of cooking waft through her small apartment in Beirut, our heroine is confronted by memories of the past. They are as much a part of her as the jagged scar on her neck that she dutifully hides, and the invisible scars that mar her soul that she doesn’t need to.

For three days, she toils. And with the familiar scents, the same as those from the village she left behind, her secrets unfold, drawing a picture of a tumultuous life lived in a small town full of contradictory feelings and conflicting ideas, amidst blood and tears.

In her preparations, our heroine relives the past believing it a new start, and reconciliation with all life.

But how can she reconcile with the thing she hates the most: herself?

Ten years ago, Dylan Lynch left home to pursue a music career against his mother’s wishes. Now he’s riding the waves of being rock star with number one albums and more money than he ever imagined, and he did it without using his deadly magic. But with his brother’s death he knows it’s only a matter of time until he is summoned home to take his place as heir to a business he doesn’t want.
Eamon Cutler is a snake shifter working as an enforcer for the Lynch family, hex witches who grant wishes with a price to be collected in the future. Usually he is sent after humans who welch on their side of the deal. But when he’s sent after Dylan, a man he has wanted from afar and admired for his willingness to stand up to his family, Eamon questions his career path.
The attraction between Eamon and Dylan simmers, but both are reluctant to give in. Hex witches don’t sleep with shifters, and if Eamon wants to keep his job, and life, he shouldn’t sleep with the boss’s son.

Natty Bumppo goes by many names: La Longue Carabine, Hawk Eye, Leatherstocking, and in this tale, The Pathfinder. Guide, scout, hunter, and when put to it, soldier, he also fills a lot of roles in pre-Revolution upstate New York. An old friend, Sergeant Dunham of the 55th Regiment of Foot, asks him to guide his daughter through the wilderness to the fort at Oswego where Dunham serves. With the French engaging native Indian allies against the British and the Yankee colonists, such a journey is far from safe. Dunham has a plan in mind - to see his daughter Mable married off to the most redoubtable frontiersman and marksman in the territory, who is Pathfinder himself. But as an attractive and marriageable young lady, she draws other suitors. Then a military expedition contrives to put Sgt. Dunham, Mable, Pathfinder, and two other wooers into an isolated and dangerous garrison. Here treachery raises the stakes, and with the soldiers of the detachment shot down or captured, all of them must show mettle for any of them to escape with their scalps.

A real duke moves into a quiet middle-class neighborhood, and the residents of suburban south London are baffled. He is polite, curious, and full of surprises. His presence turns their carefully ordered world upside down.
With each visit and every interaction, the Duke challenges their ideas of status, respectability, and social norms. Small dramas unfold behind garden fences. Gossip spreads quickly. Manners are tested.
This is a sharp, witty social comedy about class, ambition, and the ridiculous ways people try to impress one another. Edgar Wallace offers a light-hearted yet pointed look at suburban life in early 20th-century England.
Perfect for readers who enjoy British humor, social satire, and comedies of manners.
