Sinopse

In the third book in Kenna McKinnon's 'Annie Hansen Mysteries', Annie and her partner, Mark Snow, investigate the murder of Mark's aunt Clarise, after she's found dead in the lobby of their apartment building.

Several people have seen Clarise before her death, but none of them seem to have a motive. A contract killer, a charity scam and a shady boyfriend all seem to be connected to the case. But who wanted to kill Clarise, and why?

Annie's schizophrenic episodes are both alarming and charming, and Mark is there to support her all the way. Sleuthing their way through the mystery with intelligence and wit, the duo is determined to find out the truth and bring Clarise's killer to justice.

"The Adventure of the Missing Three-Quarter", one of the 56 Sherlock Holmes short stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is one of 13 stories in the cycle collected as The Return of Sherlock Holmes. It was originally published in The Strand Magazine in 1904 with illustrations by Sidney Paget.
Mr. Cyril Overton of Trinity College, Cambridge, comes to Holmes seeking his help in Godfrey Staunton's disappearance. Staunton is the key man on Overton's rugby union team (who plays at the three-quarters position, hence the story's title) and they will not win the important match tomorrow against Oxford if Staunton cannot be found. Holmes has to admit that sport is outside his field, but he shows the same care he has shown to his other cases.

'Madmen do not rebel against logic – they merely use it where it is not applicable.'

A brilliantly unique collection of short stories, The Poet and the Lunatics was originally published in Nash's Magazine in 1921. Today, it remains a masterpiece of detective fiction.

Gabriel Gale, an eccentric poet, often finds himself acting as detective when he becomes entangled in a series of bizarre and psychologically challenging events. Despite the complexity of the cases that come his way, Gale uses his extraordinary gifts of empathy and philosophical insight to get to the root of crimes supposedly committed by madmen. Effortlessly blending mystery, psychological drama and Chesterton's trademark wit, The Poet and the Lunatics is a thrilling exploration of the thin line between genius and madness, and the intricacies of the human mind. This audiobook edition is expertly narrated by Malk Williams.
Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874 – 1936) was an English novelist, philosopher, journalist and critic. A Christian apologist, he is famed for creating the fictional priest-detective Father Brown. His writing was also renowned for his sense of humour: known as 'the prince of paradox', Chesterton often turned common sayings upside down. Admired by several of his literary contemporaries, Chesterton's work is still widely read today.

Luther is a darkly humorous mafia book that tells the story of Luther LaMotta, an accidental low-level hitman in the Manchini family mob. Luther wants nothing more from life than to savor music in the solitude of his plant-filled apartment, or to romp in borrowed luxury cars with his girlfriend/stripper Candy Barr, an Amish runaway. Instead, he is forced to clean up after mob hits, feeding victims' body parts to a crocodile named Bianca who is kept in a pit in a New York City basement.
Despite the constant violence surrounding him, Luther retains a charming naivete, which makes him an easy target for manipulation. Willing to do anything for Candy, Luther becomes embroiled in her plot to skim money from the Manchinis, and he realizes—only after irreparable damage is done and lives lost—that she has set him up.

The Vinyl Detective plunges into the world of Italian movie soundtrack music in his eighth adventure that is sure to delight those who love whimsical British cosy crime. Expect laughs, LPs, cats and the return of fan favourites, Nevada, Tinkler, Stinky Stanmer and more.

Some of the greatest (and grooviest) music ever committed to vinyl has come out of Italy.

And some of the greatest music to come out of Italy is the rich diversity of soundtracks composed for the indigenous film industry – particularly for gruesome thrillers known as ‘gialli’. The maestros who composed for these include Ennio Morricone, Piero Piccioni, Armand Trovajoli…

    And Valerius Passeri.

He was one of the finest composers of this genre and his original LPs from his 1960s heyday fetch a fortune from collectors.

No one disputes that Passeri was a genius…

The argument is whether or not he was a murderer.

Passeri’s mistress was killed in London in the 1960s while he was here on location for a film shoot. There was never enough hard evidence to lead to a prosecution but the stink of scandal has never gone away.

Passeri’s granddaughter Chloe has come to England to hire the Vinyl Detective. She wants him to negotiate for a collection of her father’s LPs. The mastertapes of the albums have been destroyed and she needs immaculate vinyl copies to provide the source for a series of reissues – Chloe’s mission is to preserve her grandfather’s heritage.

And also, it transpires, to clear his name.

So it turns out that the Vinyl Detective’s real job will be to find out who actually committed a murder – over half a century ago, in Swinging London.

But the real killer is not enchanted with the notion of being exposed. And, having killed once before, they see no problem in doing so again.
