Sinopse

The Korean War, which lasted from June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953, was a conflict between North and South Korea. It began when North Korea invaded South Korea after a series of border battles and uprisings in the South. The United Nations supported South Korea, with the United States as its primary backer, while North Korea received support from China and the Soviet Union. On July 27, 1953, the war ended with an armistice.

After Japan's surrender to the Allies on August 15, 1945, at the end of World War II, Korea, which had been under Japanese rule for 35 years, was divided along the 38th parallel by the United States and the Soviet Union. This division led to the establishment of two sovereign entities in 1948: the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the north, led by the communist ruler Kim Il-sung, and the Republic of Korea in the south, led by the authoritarian Syngman Rhee. Both claimed to be the legitimate authority for all of Korea and rejected the border as a long-term solution.

The Korean War began when troops from the North Korean People's Army crossed the border into South Korea. In response, the UN Security Council declared it an invasion and authorized the formation of a UN Command to repel the North Korean forces. The UN forces, primarily composed of US troops, launched a daring counteroffensive from Incheon in September 1950, cutting off the North Korean troops and forcing them to retreat. However, Chinese forces from the People's Volunteer Army joined the war effort in October 1950, leading to a UN withdrawal from North Korea. Chinese troops remained stationed in North Korea, and the conflict continued with various offensives until an armistice was reached in July 1953.

Experiencing Grief is inevitable in life because death is certain. Nobody can avoid it, and yet it seems that too many people hide from this fact, preferring to 'leave it till later'. The very word 'death' is whispered and most often dodged if possible, preferring words like 'lost', 'passed' or 'sleeping'.
Grief can be a shock when death occurs, even if it has been previously experienced because grief is never the same. My grief for my mum who died in 2019 was nothing compared to the death of our son, Jac in 1997, which catapulted me into this world of grief specialist, therapist and best selling author. For many clients 'counselling' worked just 'fine', however, I knew there was more to life having healed my mind, body and spirit because all three are affected by grief. So I used my grief and death knowledge, accepted the guidance of angels and spirit guides, and created bespoke programmes to heal aspects of grief such as anger and stress, elevating your energy and find out who you REALLY are, along with my powerful 5 month programme to heal and come back to life after grieving.
Within these pages I offer grief knowledge, self help writing exercises and my own personal journey of discovery through surviving abuse, suicides, death and trauma. I can't promise you a happy ending, but I can promise honesty, truth and love.

Before the Civil War, free African Americans and fugitive slaves crossed international borders to places like Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean in search of freedom and equality. Beacons of Liberty tells the story of how these bold migrants catalyzed contentious debates over citizenship, racial justice, and national character in the United States. Blending fresh historical analysis with incredible stories of escape and rebellion, Elena K. Abbott shows how the shifting geography of slavery and freedom beyond US borders helped shape the hopes and expectations of black radicals, white politicians, and fiery reformers engaged in the American anti-slavery movement. Featuring perspectives from activists and risk-takers like Mary Ann Shadd, Martin Delany, and James C. Brown, Beacons of Liberty illuminates the critical role that international free soil played in the long and arduous fight for emancipation and racial justice in the United States.

Philosophy, at its core, is the study of fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, values, reason, and the human condition. It is not merely an academic subject but a way of thinking, questioning, and understanding the world. The term "philosophy" comes from the Greek words "philo" (love) and "sophia" (wisdom), meaning "the love of wisdom." This pursuit of wisdom has been a defining aspect of human civilization for thousands of years, shaping our perspectives on reality, morality, and truth.
One of the key aspects of philosophy is its role in fostering critical thinking. Philosophers do not accept ideas at face value but engage in rational inquiry, examining beliefs and assumptions. This is why philosophy often begins with questions rather than answers. What is real? How do we know what we know? What is the purpose of life? These questions are not easily answered, yet they push us to think deeply about our existence.
Philosophy is divided into several branches, each focusing on different aspects of human thought. Metaphysics explores the nature of reality, asking questions about existence, time, and the universe. Epistemology deals with the nature and limits of knowledge—how we acquire it and whether absolute truth exists. Ethics examines the principles of right and wrong, guiding moral behavior. Logic studies the structure of reasoning, ensuring that arguments are sound and rational. Political philosophy and aesthetics, while sometimes considered separate disciplines, also fall under the broader philosophical umbrella, dealing with justice, governance, and beauty.

Red Is Democrat: What Happens When a Party Forgets to Change
    by Daniel Alan Brubaker, PhD
Do today's Democrats really stand for the values they claim—equality, justice, science, compassion? Or have those ideals become a smokescreen for something far more troubling?
In Red Is Democrat, Daniel Alan Brubaker, PhD, takes readers on a bold, meticulously documented journey behind the public image of America’s Democrat Party. With clarity and conviction, he examines the disconnect between the party’s professed values and its actual policies and historical trajectory. What emerges is a revealing look at how a powerful political movement has managed to sidestep accountability—often by rewriting its own past and projecting its faults onto others.
Have the parties really flipped? Or is that narrative a carefully constructed myth? Why do so many of the injustices Democrats say they oppose—racism, intolerance, misogyny, injustice, greed, and so forth—persist within their own ranks? And how can ordinary Americans across the political spectrum cut through the noise to find the truth?
Whether you identify as a Democrat, Republican, Independent, or simply a concerned citizen, this book invites you to look past slogans, scrutinize the record, and reconsider what it really means to stand for justice and truth in public life.

    Laboratories against Democracy -...

Over the past generation, the Democratic and Republican parties have each become nationally coordinated political teams. American political institutions, on the other hand, remain highly decentralized. Laboratories against Democracy shows how national political conflicts are increasingly flowing through the subnational institutions of state politics—with profound consequences for public policy and American democracy.

Jacob Grumbach argues that as Congress has become more gridlocked, national partisan and activist groups have shifted their sights to the state level, nationalizing state politics in the process and transforming state governments. He shows how this has had the ironic consequence of making policy more varied across the states as red and blue party coalitions implement increasingly distinct agendas in areas like health care, reproductive rights, and climate change. Grumbach traces how national groups are using state governmental authority to suppress the vote, gerrymander districts, and erode the very foundations of democracy itself.

Laboratories against Democracy reveals how the pursuit of national partisan agendas at the state level has intensified the challenges facing American democracy, and asks whether today’s state governments are mitigating the political crises of our time—or accelerating them.
