Sinopse

Gravel Rides South West England features 24 cycling routes, ranging from 16 to 180 kilometres, showcasing the extensive gravel trails of the West Country.
Gravel enthusiast and experienced route creator Katherine Moore has taken her love of the South West and extensive local knowledge to put these routes together – each one is a delight and shows off the highlights of this diverse region of England. Ride mining trails and coastal gravel in Cornwall, remote trails on Dartmoor, a tour of Exmoor tea rooms in North Devon and Somerset, flint and chalk tracks on the Old Chalk Way in Dorset, fast-rolling gravel roads on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, and trails past the remains of old tramways and collieries in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. The featured routes include both classic routes in well-known areas as well as some lesser-known gravel riding gems – there is something to discover for both new and experienced gravel cyclists.
Each route includes all the information you need to help you plan your ride, interesting background information about the local area, types of terrain covered and refreshment recommendations in addition to detailed route descriptions, stunning photography and overview mapping. Downloadable GPX files of the routes are also available.
This book is full of practical tips and advice on all aspects of gravel riding, including the bike itself, essential kit to carry when out on a ride, and bikepacking if you want to extend your adventures.

River Songs is rich with bracing, authentic, generous stories—writing that revels in language and spirit. Avoiding most of fly fishing's clichés—the romantic elegies, the Moby-Dick-like conquests, the play-by-play detailing a "victory" over a fish—Steve Duda instead offers pieces that breathe lived experience, reveal vulnerabilities, and convey a broad perspective of what it means to have "a long run with a tight crew." Duda is interested in what has been learned out there on the river: what is it about this "ridiculous activity" that connects us to this planet, makes us human, gives us hope?

River Songs focuses on the in-between moments and the unexpected revelations—awe, fear, frustration, doubt, joy—that are as much a part of fishing as tying knots and chucking flies. Listeners ride along with Duda in battered pickup trucks, fish "between jobs," look longingly at unfished famous rivers while touring with a country-punk band, and wonder how a fishing trip led to getting a tooth pulled while being surrounded by trash-talking friends. They will find beauty, discovery, heartbreak, good dogs, and the wonder of nature within the expanse of Northwest landscapes and beyond.

Traveling can often disrupt our usual routines, and one of the first things many people sacrifice while on the go is fitness. However, staying active during your travels is not only possible, but it can also be incredibly rewarding. Fitness on the go is about making small adjustments to your routine that allow you to maintain your health, improve your energy, and help you stay balanced no matter where you are. This chapter will explore the benefits of staying fit while traveling, how to overcome common barriers, and how to set realistic fitness goals while on the move.
Fitness during travel is not just about physical health; it’s also about mental well-being. Engaging in regular exercise can help reduce the stress and anxiety that often accompany travel, especially with tight schedules, time zone changes, or unfamiliar environments. Staying active releases endorphins, the body’s natural stress relievers, helping you stay relaxed and focused. Moreover, travel workouts can improve your sleep quality and keep your energy levels high, making your trip more enjoyable and productive.
It’s common to feel that travel presents too many obstacles to exercising—whether it's lack of time, lack of access to a gym, or exhaustion from a busy schedule. However, by rethinking what exercise can be, these barriers become more manageable. Many exercises can be done anywhere with minimal to no equipment, and even short, effective workouts can help you stay on track. By identifying your personal challenges and addressing them head-on, you’ll realize that even in the most hectic travel days, a quick workout is achievable.

Studies prove that positive thinkers are happier, healthier, and more successful than everyone else. Discover the simple, proven techniques for becoming a more positive person . . .

Positive thinking leads to positive outcomes. Study after study proves this. Researchers have found that optimistic people live longer, live healthier, have more energy, have more successful careers, make better decisions, are more productive, are less stressed, have healthier relationships, and (not surprisingly) are much happier than pessimists.

However, a lot has been misunderstood about what it means to be a positive thinker and what it takes to maintain an optimistic mindset. It takes a lot more than repeating feel-good platitudes to make positive thinking work in your life. It takes discipline, commitment, and a proper understanding of what optimism really means in a world that is constantly throwing new challenges at us.

This is a book for anyone who has ever questioned whether positive thinking really "works."

It's also a book for those who have tried to develop a more positive attitude, but have found it difficult to eliminate the voices of fear, doubt, and cynicism.
