  With the development of the B-29 “Superfortress” in summer 1944, strategic bombing, a central component of the Allied war effort against Germany, arrived in the Pacific theater. In 1945 Japan experienced the three most deadly bombing attacks of the war. The firebombing of Tokyo in March burned the city’s most densely populated sector, killed some 85,000 residents, and left more than one million homeless. The attack was part of a months-long campaign of incendiary bombing that destroyed almost two-thirds of Japan’s cities. The two atomic blasts in August killed hundreds of thousands in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, most of them civilians. The bombing brought a destabilizing devastation that, combined with a declaration of war by the Soviet Union, induced Japan, as they put it, to terminate the war. 
    
  Many at the time and since have credited American air power, and especially the two atomic bombs, with Japan’s surrender. But Richard Overy tells a different, more dimensional story. Drawing on his expertise on the war and its bombing campaigns, he delivers a precise recounting of these aerial attacks, and a balanced, informed assessment of how and why they occurred. Overy is astute on the Allied decision-making, and, notably, integrates the Japanese leadership as well. He ably navigates the dramatic endgame of the war, which featured factional infighting within the Japanese cabinet, a scramble by American officials to formulate an acceptable version of “unconditional surrender,” and the crucial role played by the emperor, Hirohito. The atomic bombing emerges as impactful but not decisive in this rich, multilayered history.

  The debate over whether King Arthur was a real historical figure or merely a legendary construct has fascinated scholars for centuries. Some believe that Arthur may have been based on a real Brittonic war leader who fought against Saxon invasions in the fifth or sixth century. However, definitive historical evidence remains elusive. What is clear is that Arthurian stories took on a life of their own, infused with elements of medieval knighthood, Christian symbolism, and mythical enchantment. Arthur became more than just a king—he became an ideal, embodying the virtues of justice, bravery, and sacrifice.

  Because of extreme cold weather, Chief Justice Warren Burger administered the official oath of office in the White House on January 20, 1985. A public administration of the oath of office and the inaugural address were delayed until January 21, 1985, in the Capitol Rotunda.  
  On the 50th inauguration since George Washington’s, Reagan marvels at America’s growth and inventions, including journeying to the moon and back. “There are no limits to growth and human progress when men and women are free to follow their dreams.” Our values of faith, family, work, and neighborhood were restored “when our economy was finally freed from government’s grip”.  
  America supports "individual liberty, self-government, and free enterprise throughout the world…” We deal best with great challenges when we come “together not as Democrats or Republicans, but as Americans united in a common cause.”  
  “We must never again abuse the trust of working men and women by sending their earnings on a futile chase after the spiraling demands of a bloated Federal Establishment.” “Freedom and incentives unleash the drive and entrepreneurial genius that are the core of human progress.” 
  “We must act now to protect future generations from government's desire to spend its citizens' money and tax them into servitude when the bills come due.” Though “our heritage is one of blood lines from every corner of the Earth, we are all Americans, pledged to carry on this last, best hope of man on Earth.” 
  Rather than relying on mutual assured destruction, we need “a security shield that will destroy nuclear missiles before they reach their target” and “render nuclear weapons obsolete.”  
  We are “one people under God, dedicated to the dream of freedom that He has placed in the human heart, called upon now to pass that dream on to a waiting and hopeful world.”

  ABC - The Beginning Of The End

  The poems written in this book were composed in over 20 different countries & different cities including Australia, Bali, Brooklyn, Budapest, Colombia, Cyprus, Greece, India, Israel, Istanbul, Los Angeles, Madagascar, Miami, New Zealand, Oklahoma, Portugal, Romania, Sydney, Tbilisi, Thailand, & The Hamptons & Ukraine. 
  I left a piece of my heart in each one of these places that I visited along with leaving a piece of my heart, with every one of those amazing souls that I met & connected with along the way, a lot of who I still know to this day. Those out there know who you are so I don’t need to name names. 
  I’ve been traveling the world for several decades, but I notice this most recent trip felt the most strange & I can’t just blame COVID for this post COVID feeling. See something has just fundamentally changed the whole global vibe is a bit off & I don’t just mean the obvious stuff.  
  Sure there’s the political chaos with right & left becoming increasingly polarized which is absolutely heartbreaking because if we put our differences aside we’d see we have more similarities than differences what I'm really talking about a fundamental change in the individual.  
  We're spending way more time with machines than we are spending with each other & a lot of the time we spend interacting with each other is done through machines instead of directly with each other. 
  It’s as if we are recognizing each other’s existences less & less. 
  On top of this a majority of people including myself seem tired “out of it” directionless & disassociated. Maybe I’m trippin’ but I can’t be imagining all these things, it can’t just be me.  
  So yeah, a lot more to say, but I’m just going to stop here & let the poems contained in this book do the explaining,
