Sinopse

The Communist Manifesto, penned by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in 1848, is a seminal text that articulates the principles of communism and critiques the socio-political structures of capitalism. Employing a fiery rhetorical style that blends historical analysis with passionate calls to action, the manifesto navigates the stark class antagonisms that define capitalist societies. It underscores the inevitable clash between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat, ultimately advocating for a revolutionary overthrow of the capitalist system. The text, steeped in the context of its tumultuous political environment, served not only as a rallying cry for workers but also as a profound theoretical foundation for subsequent socialist movements worldwide. Karl Marx, a philosopher, economist, and social theorist, was profoundly influenced by the socio-economic conditions of 19th-century Europe, marked by rapid industrialization and stark class disparities. His engagement with Hegelian dialectics and reaction to the alienation experienced by laborers shaped his revolutionary ideology. Collaborating with Engels, Marx sought to inspire a global working-class movement, reflecting his commitment to social justice and equality that transcended national boundaries. The Communist Manifesto remains a crucial read for anyone seeking to understand the historical and ideological underpinnings of modern political thought. Its incisive critique of capitalism and its rallying call for collective action are as relevant today as they were in the 19th century. Readers are invited to explore the transformative ideas that continue to challenge the status quo and inspire future generations.

Attend to these words gentle soul, herein ye shall find a two-part alchemical discourse concerning the purity and veracity of scientific thought, separating the 'ugly truth' (science conspiracies) from the 'beautiful truth' (the secret art of Alchemy).
Part One takes aim at the post-modern secular worldview of Scientific Materialism or Scientism, rebuking and revealing the fatal flaws inherent in its core beliefs and cosmology, as well as the various conspiracies and occult shenanigans underlying physics, chemistry and medicine. It is said that 'adventure is an attitude towards discomfort', and to the theorists, statists and sophists take heed, there may be some discomfort ahead, as the pillars upon which you stand will be systematically dismantled and debunked through a combination of wit, fierce logic and timeless wisdom.
Part Two unveils the ancient Hermetic practice of Alchemy, also known as The Science of Transformation or The Art, a universal system of spiritual knowledge common to all mankind but hidden behind a mantle of domestic counter-intelligence and worthless academic theories. Alchemy is so empowering and enlightening that it is deemed unfit for public programming, and so it must be sought out by curious individuals who initiate themselves on the path.
Scientism is the troll that guards the gates to the fountain of alchemical truth, and so it must be overcome before one can proceed to higher levels of knowledge. For the humble awakening souls and lovers of truth and wisdom, what awaits you in these pages is a treasure trove of philosophical gold so potent as to transform even the most asinine fool into a sage.

This biography of the Mexican revolutionary examines his rise from soldier to president to his continued influence as Jefe Maximo. Hailing from the border state of Sonora, Plutarco Elías Calles found his calling in the early years of the revolution, quickly rising to national prominence. As president from 1924 to 1928, Calles undertook an ambitious reform program, modernized the financial system, and defended national sovereignty against an interventionist U.S. government. Yet these reforms failed to eradicate underdevelopment, corruption, and social injustice. Moreover, his unyielding campaigns against political enemies and the Catholic Church earned him a reputation as a repressive strongman. After his term as president, Calles continued to exert broad influence as his country's foremost political figure while three weaker presidents succeeded each other in an atmosphere of constant political crisis. He played a significant role in founding a ruling party that reined in power-hungry military leaders and helped workers attain better living conditions. This dynastic party and its successors, including the present-day Partido Revolucionario Institucional (Party of the Institutional Revolution), remained in power until 2000. Through this comprehensive assessment of a quintessential Mexican politician, Buchenau opens an illuminating window into both the Mexican Revolution and contemporary Mexico.

An often overlooked, yet very important, environmental process in world history is known as the “Late Antique Little Ice Age,” which took place during the 6th century A.D. across most of the Northern Hemisphere and received its name because it was shorter and less well-known than the Little Ice Age, which took place from the 16th-19th centuries. An examination of the written sources from the 6th century, along with archaeological and climatological information, reveals that the Late Antique Little Ice Age was a major event in world history that had long-lasting repercussions on numerous societies. Although it was not as long or as severe as the later Little Ice Age, the Late Antique Little Ice Age drastically impacted several advanced societies across the Northern Hemisphere, including in Europe, Central Asia, East Asia, and even North America. Perhaps the best-studied aspect of the Late Antique Little Ice Age is the role it played in the collapse of the Western Roman Empire and how it helped shape the composition of early medieval Europe. Some of these studies suggest that the Late Antique Little Ice Age played a major, if not the most important, role in the reformation of Western Europe after the fall of the Roman Empire. Other studies suggest that the Late Antique Little Ice Age affected the political structure of late ancient societies in the Middle East and Arabia, helping to give rise to Islam. And finally, although the Late Antique Little Ice Age’s effects on East Asia and North America have not been studied nearly as much as its influence on Europe, the archaeological and some textual evidence – in the case of East Asia – suggest that the Late Antique Little Ice Age also affected how complex societies transitioned in those regions during the 6th century and later.
