A NEW MONEY STORY: The Beliefs, Behaviors, and Brain Science to Rewire for Wealth
    Book Summary
Neuroscientists estimate that over 90 percent of our operating systems—beliefs, behaviors, patterns—are
unconscious. Since the surface story determines less than 10 percent of our decisions, how can we
illuminate the shadow story responsible for over 90 percent of what we do each day? Once we
systematically understand our relationship with money, our individual meanings and symbolism, can we
overcome the mind and brain’s resistance to change?
A NEW MONEY STORY: The Beliefs, Behaviors, and Brain Science to Rewire for Wealth will help you
recognize, own, and assess each component of your money story. You can then decide what to change,
map changes, author new storylines, and even program the changes to transform core identity to make it
complete and lasting. This systematic stepwise process to inform and strategically catalyze behavior
change will rewrite mind software and revise brain hardware of money stories as they are interwoven with
life, wellness, relationship, and career stories. These behavior, mind, and brain changes offer long-term
successful strategies, and even can crystallize a vision of your future self to significantly affect positive
    money decisions.

Fresh Medicine - How to Fix...

An authoritative, engaging, and nonpartisan look at what is wrong with American health care and how we can fix it—“told with skill and grace” (Jon Meacham, author of American Lion).

Former Governor of Tennessee and CEO of HealthAmerica Corporation, Phil Bredesen “knows the American health care system inside and out. He knows both the theory and, more importantly, how things really work.” In Fresh Medicine, he analyses the current state of American Health Care, beginning with a clear-eyed critique of the Affordable Care Act (Bill Frist, M.D., former Senate majority leader).

According to Bresden, the Obama Administration ushered million more people into a broken system while doing little to address the underlying problems. Looking back over the past century, Bresden explains how that system developed from local doctors making house calls to today’s sprawling insurance model. What began as an insurance system to cover hospitalization has expanded to cover drugs, doctor visits, and the treatment of chronic disease. American health care, Bredesen asserts, needs to be reset on a new foundation. In Fresh Medicine, he harnesses thirty years of experience to offer a new solution.

The title is, I think, self explanatory. The nurse in question went out to France at the beginning of the war and remained there until May 1915 after the second battle of Ypres when she went back to a Base Hospital and the diary ceases. Although written in diary form, it is clearly taken from letters home and gives a vivid if sometimes distressing picture of the state of the casualties suffered during that period. After a time at the General Hospital in Le Havre she became one of the three or four sisters working on the ambulance trains which fetched the wounded from the Clearing Hospitals close to the front line and took them back to the General Hospitals in Boulogne and Le Havre. Towards the end of the account she was posted to a Field Ambulance (station) close to Ypres. (Summary by Andy Minter)

Co-authored by Zoe Enser and Mark Enser, The CPD Curriculum: Creating conditions for growth shares expert and practical guidance for schools on designing and delivering continuing professional development (CPD) that truly lives up to its name.
There is a wealth of research available on professional learning, from both within and outside the education sphere, and in this book Zoe and Mark pull it all together to help school leaders optimise teachers' ongoing learning and growth.
Zoe and Mark explain how schools can overcome issues with CPD that can leave teachers plateauing in their development after just a few years, and share a variety of case studies that illustrate the key
components of an effective CPD programme that builds on teachers' prior knowledge.
The authors spell out the importance of CPD and explain how, when done well, it gives teachers the agency to make professional decisions informed by the best evidence and experience they have to hand. Furthermore, they explore how high-quality professional development contributes not only to a collaborative culture within the school staff team and enhanced job satisfaction for teachers, but also to improved student outcomes.
Split into three parts - intent, implementation and impact - the book covers a range of key areas, including: coaching and mentoring, subject-specific CPD, empowerment and self-efficacy, delivery methods and quality of materials. They also examine the current issues and common pitfalls surrounding CPD and offer guidance on how it can be improved, with clear end goals in mind.
Suitable for school leaders, heads of department and CPD leads in all settings.

Citing decades of scientific research, Taubes meticulously makes the case that sugar causes a host of diseases from obesity and diabetes to heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s.   Obesity and diabetes are pandemic around the world, with more than half a billion people considered obese, including one in three Americans. With more and more American adults getting diagnosed with diabetes, the once uncommon disease has followed the spread of the sugar-rich Western diet around the globe.   Tracing the history of sugar; detailing studies on how it can lead to weight gain and other medical problems; and chronicling the lengths to which the powerful sugar industry has gone to hide this information, Taubes reveals traditional advice recommending a low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet is wrong—it’s sugar we should be looking out for.   The summary and analysis in this ebook are intended to complement your reading experience and bring you closer to a great work of nonfiction.
