Sinopsis

Winner of a second-place award in the spirituality category from the Association of Catholic Publishers. One of the most difficult challenges we may face as parents is to have that first “talk” with our kids. You know the one—discussing their changing bodies and sex for the first time. When do we begin? Where do we start? How do we do it in a way that makes sure they have the information they need, doesn’t make them (or us) feel overwhelming shame, and forms them in Catholic teaching? In Start Talking to Your Kids about Sex, clinical psychologist Julia Sadusky will answer questions you may have and give you the boost of confidence you need as you have foundational conversations with your elementary-age children long before they hit puberty. As Christians, we believe that the body is a blessing and a gift from God—and worth protecting—from the beginning of life. But many parents and educators wait until puberty to begin conversations with kids about sexuality and relationship boundaries. We miss opportunities along the way to reinforce their body’s goodness—like when young children discover their most intimate body parts, for example. We might react out of fear and embarrassment because we don’t know how to respond calmly. Sadusky says we have to be proactive about providing our children a healthy understanding of the goodness of their bodies and offering them ways to respond if someone doesn’t respect their boundaries. If we don’t, our discussions about sexuality end up being too little, too late. By the time puberty hits, children will have learned from culture, social media, and sometimes, early experiences of trauma. Our failure to engage well in these conversations earlier has significant consequences. Start Talking to Your Kids about Sex is one of only a few resources focused on these issues. It is organized in a question-and-answer format, making it easy for you to begin with the topic that’s most pertinent at the time. It will help you identify barriers to these conversations with a child. You’ll be able to draw from concrete scripts addressing everything from responding to questions about genitalia, exploratory play, sexual abuse, and technology use. With each chapter, the content will help you grow your courage and practical knowledge. This go-to resource is structured around the most frequently asked questions Sadusky receives in her clinical practice, including What is healthy body exploration? Should I make my kids hug strangers? How can I help my kids learn to say no when I’m not around? What are good “house rules,” and how do I justify them to other adults? What do I do if my kids say they had an unwanted sexual experience? How should I respond to invitations to sleepovers and overnight trips?     An appendix offers additional resources for parents. While the book is geared toward parents, extended family members, caregivers, mentors, mental health professionals, and educators also will find the information helpful.

Accessible Guide Explores Humanity's Exile and the Hope of Atonement
God's people, once resting in his divine presence, now toil in exile. The theme of humanity's expulsion and wandering begins with Adam and Eve, but echoes in events throughout the Bible. Emphasizing the pain of separation from God, exile stories also highlight the hope of resurrection and creation's imminent restoration back to the Edenic state.
In this addition to the Short Studies in Biblical Theology series, Nicholas G. Piotrowski traces the theme of exile throughout Scripture, giving readers a renewed appreciation for redemptive history and atonement in Christ. Sharing from his 15 years of study, Piotrowski connects the journeys of Abraham, Joseph, and Jesus with tabernacle imagery and other types to illustrate recurring themes of exile from Genesis until the new creation. This accessible volume helps believers understand their own exile and rejoice with the hope that they will one day worship in God's holy presence.

    - Brief and Easy to Understand: Piotrowski's clear style makes this theologically rich guide accessible for students and teachers as well as new Christians
    - Comprehensive: Asserting that the return from exile is the Bible's principle drama, Piotrowski examines stories from the Garden of Eden to Mount Sinai, the Land of Canaan, and the new creation
    - Part of the Short Studies in Biblical Theology Series: Other volumes include Resurrection Hope and the Death of Death; The Sabbath as Rest and Hope for the People of God; and Sanctification as Set Apart and Growing in Christ

Spiritual warfare is a battle against the dark forces of the enemy. It is a fight that has eternal consequences. It is serious business, and rightly so. But have we been so focused on the darkness that we have overlooked the Light?

Many of us exhaust ourselves striving against Satan in our own strength, unknowingly employing the enemy's own tactics rather than resting in Christ's triumphant finished work. These methods frustrate us and keep us from experiencing victory and deliverance.

That is all about to change as we move from being victims of the darkness to becoming victorious warriors of the light. Bestselling author Joshua Mills explains that in these momentous times, God wants us to recover His original plan for spiritual warfare. He is providing us with a higher revelation, with better tools for overcoming, so we can release His powerful light. When the light shines, darkness must flee.

Light warriors choose to stand in the light and not back down from the darkness. As you learn how to become a spiritual light warrior, you will release healing, activate angels and disarm demons, be set ablaze with God's power, live in heavenly light, and shift atmospheres for spiritual victory.

Aleister Crowley was born 12 October 1875. He was an English occultist, ceremonial magician, poet, painter, novelist, and mountaineer. He founded the religion of Thelema, identifying himself as the prophet entrusted with guiding humanity into the Æon of Horus in the early 20th century. A prolific writer, he published widely over the course of his life. Born to a wealthy family in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, Crowley rejected his parents' fundamentalist Christian faith to pursue an interest in Western esotericism. He was educated at Trinity College at the University of Cambridge, where he focused his attentions on mountaineering and poetry. Some biographers allege that here he was recruited into a British intelligence agency, further suggesting that he remained a spy throughout his life. In 1898 he joined the esoteric Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, where he was trained in ceremonial magic. Moving to Boleskine House by Loch Ness in Scotland, he went mountaineering in Mexico before studying Hindu and Buddhist practices in India. He married Rose Edith Kelly and in 1904 they honeymooned in Cairo, Egypt Crowley declared his followers should "Do what thou wilt" and seek to align themselves with their True Will through the practice of magick. Herein is a treasury of his long lost writings.

"We can help," says Lionel when the cats get scared on the waves. "You’re too prickly," Noah says, but the pair know just what to say to calm the others down. And, before Noah has a chance to think about it, they have a plan in the works for when the ark reaches dry land...
