The fully illustrated publication highlights 60 key moments that have shaped the history of the club from the day that it was founded in the Rising Sun Public House in 1905 to the victory over Manchester City in this year's Champions League Final.
Many of the magical moments are from the last couple of decades under the ownership of Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich during which time the Blues have won two Champions Leagues, five Premierships, five FA Cups, three League Cups and two Europa Leagues.
Not that they were entirely unsuccessful before, as the Stamford Bridge trophy cabinet already included a first league title, three more FA Cups and two Cup Winners' Cups.
Chelsea FC Women have been no less prolific, winning five league titles, two FA Cups and two League Cups. But this book is not exclusively about triumphs, it recalls those important milestones in Chelsea Football Club's life story, the year it was founded, the chairmen and managers who made an indelible mark over the years, the record scores and classic games, the goal scorers and legends, that have each contributed to the rich tapestry that is Chelsea FC.

The Gas and Flame Men is the first full account of Major League ballplayers who served in the Chemical Warfare Service during World War I. Four players, two club executives, and a manager served in the small and hastily formed branch, six of them as gas officers. Remarkably, five of the seven—Christy Mathewson, Branch Rickey, Ty Cobb, George Sisler, and Eppa "Jeptha" Rixey—are now enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame at Cooperstown, New York. The son of a sixth Hall of Famer, player and manager Ned Hanlon, was a young officer killed in action in France with the First Gas Regiment. Prominent chemical soldiers also included veteran Major League catcher and future manager George "Gabby" Street and Boston Braves president and former Harvard football coach Percy D. Haughton.

Announced by radio broadcaster Ty Tyson, the game on September 20, 1934, is notable for being the oldest known recorded complete game of baseball. It features the New York Yankees beating the Tigers, 11-7, at Navin Field in Detroit. The game featured future Hall-of-Famers Lou Gehrig and Tony Lazzeri for the Yankees, and Charlie Gehringer and Hank Greenberg for the Tigers. Detroit would go on to win the American League pennant, but eventually lose to the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series, four games to three.
