  Six months ago, I had never heard the name Eugene Debs. Today, I believe he is one of the greatest orators in history, ranking alongside Napoleon, Robespierre, Lincoln, and Cicero. More importantly, he was a genuine hero, a man to believe in and follow into the fires of hell. His legacy has been unrightly ignored by the same powers that imprisoned and harassed him over his life. He should be an icon, but is unremembered, for reasons he himself goes into. However, there is one key difference between Debs and these other orators: every one of the others fought for empire, or glory, or democracy – but Debs fought for the working man’s right to a decent existence.A railroad man from 15, he founded then turned against the unions as they became tools of the owners, and won 3% of the presidential vote in 1920 despite being a) the Socialist candidate and b) in prison for sedition.   Engineering Hitler's Downfall features numerous inventions such as the decoding machines developed at Bletchley Park; the hand-held mine detectors that cleared pathways through enemy minefields, firstly  at the Battle of el Alamein but also in most subsequent actions; the newly-located factories and tanks that enabled the Russians to repulse the German invasion; the escort carriers and long range aircraft that enabled U-boats to be attacked in the mid-Atlantic; and the 4000 plus Bailey bridges that allowed narrow ravines and rivers as wide as the Rhine to be crossed. These and many other examples illustrate what was achieved under such immense pressure.

  This book is all about mass disappearances which have occurred in history. 
   These events run the gamut from entire villages whose inhabitants disappeared to a flight of military planes gone missing in the Bermuda Triangle. 
   Many ships have disappeared so I only cover a few of the most notorious ones.  
   I also do not usually cover missing families or where just several people have gone absent. 
   It is much more interesting to me if an entire army became lost and missing or strange things happened to a group which has become a big mystery. 
   There are also some recent missing persons mysteries since these events happen even in the modern age.

  Psychological manipulation refers to the use of deceptive tactics to influence or control another person's thoughts, emotions, or behavior to achieve personal goals. Unlike straightforward persuasion, manipulation typically involves hidden motives and is often unethical in nature. It can be subtle and difficult to detect, as it operates through psychological pressure rather than overt force or coercion. Manipulators seek to gain an advantage by exploiting others' vulnerabilities, creating confusion, and leading them to make decisions that may not be in their best interest. 
  At the core of psychological manipulation lies the manipulator’s ability to control or influence another’s perception of reality. This is achieved by distorting facts, using emotional triggers, or intentionally withholding critical information. The manipulator may use charm, guilt, fear, or flattery to establish control, making it hard for the victim to recognize the manipulation until significant damage is done. This is particularly dangerous because it often leads to a breakdown of trust and can leave the victim feeling confused, powerless, and emotionally drained. 
  Manipulation can occur in any context—personal relationships, workplaces, politics, or media—and often involves a series of calculated tactics. In relationships, a manipulator might use emotional blackmail or gaslighting to make the victim doubt their own perceptions or question their reality. In business or politics, manipulation might involve misleading promises, biased narratives, or using people as pawns to achieve a specific agenda. Regardless of the setting, the manipulator’s objective is the same: to gain an advantage or achieve a goal without the other party’s full awareness or consent.
