Sinossi

On Liberty is a philosophical work by English philosopher John Stuart Mill, originally intended as a short essay. The work applies Mill's ethical system of utilitarianism to society and the state. Mill attempts to establish standards for the relationship between authority and liberty. He emphasizes the importance of individuality which he conceived as a prerequisite to the higher pleasures—the summum bonum of Utilitarianism. Furthermore, Mill criticised the errors of past attempts to defend individuality where, for example, democratic ideals resulted in the "tyranny of the majority". Among the standards established in this work are Mill's three basic liberties of individuals, his three legitimate objections to government intervention, and his two maxims regarding the relationship of the individual to society "which together form the entire doctrine of [Mill's] Essay."

On Liberty was a greatly influential and well received work though it did not go without criticism. Some attacked it for its apparent discontinuity with Utilitarianism, while others criticised its vagueness. The ideas presented in On Liberty have remained the basis of much liberal political thought. It has remained in print continuously since its initial publication. To this day, a copy of On Liberty is passed to the president of the British Liberal Democrats as a symbol of office. A copy of the same book is also presented to and then held by the resident of the Liberal Party as a symbol of office.

A poignant exploration of what it means to be Jewish today, from a leading voice in modern Judaism, Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove of Park Avenue Synagogue
For Jews today, the attack on Israel on October 7th has drawn a clear and irreversible demarcation in time. On that day, the Jewish community woke up to an unrecognizable new reality, witnessing the stark rise in antisemitism, the world’s oldest hatred, in its wake.
But even in this dark hour, the Jewish community is experiencing something profound and beautiful: a deep, abiding connection to community, culture, and faith. Drawing on the rich trove of Jewish history and tradition, Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove, one of today’s most influential thought leaders and spiritual guides, helps readers make sense of this fraught time. With warmth and wisdom, Rabbi Cosgrove explores the challenging questions embedded in the soul of contemporary Jewry. Where did all this antisemitism come from, and was it always there? How have Israel and Zionism shaped American Judaism, and what ties us and divides us today? How do we practice Judaism and understand our place in a world that has, without fail, in every century, turned against us?
Knitting together storytelling with ancient teachings, Rabbi Cosgrove helps navigate and understand the landscape of this new reality, turning over questions that have no clear or easy answer in the way only a very good rabbi can.
For thousands of years, the Jewish people have wrestled with what it means to be Jewish. In this often divisive era, Rabbi Cosgrove reminds of how we can come together despite—and even because of—our differences. For Such a Time as This is a guide for a new generation that is reconciling the past with the present and facing the unknown future with courage, spirit, and unwavering hope.

This book contains two titles. Here are some snippets of what you can find in there:
Book 1 -  Verbal abuse involves making negative, defining statements about a person or withholding responses to diminish their presence. Essentially, it means belittling, insulting, or patronizing someone, or gossiping behind their back.
When the abuser fails to apologize or retract their harmful statements, the relationship may be characterized by verbal abuse. Such abuse is often driven by underlying anger, which fuels and sustains the abusive behavior.
In schools and everyday life, verbal abuse, often accompanied by physical bullying, serves to elevate the abuser's status over their target and to rally others against the victim. Typically, the bully may not know any other way to connect with others emotionally.
Book 2 - Influence, at its core, means having the power to affect people or situations. Subconsciously, we are constantly influenced and are influencing others through countless factors that impact our decisions. Even something as mundane as choosing toothpaste involves a myriad of external influences. Influence is a universal phenomenon, not confined by species or origin. Although the factors that contribute to influence might seem endless, social scientists have identified fewer than ten key aspects. This book will explore how to effectively influence others to achieve your desired outcomes.

The Berlin Wall - Its Beginnings...

From 1961 until 1989, the Berlin Wall stood as a stark symbol of division, not only physically separating the city of Berlin but also representing the broader ideological rift between the East and the West during the Cold War. On August 13, 1961, the German Democratic Republic (GDR), or East Germany, began constructing this formidable barrier. The Wall effectively cut off West Berlin from the rest of East Germany, including East Berlin, solidifying the physical and ideological separation between the communist East and the capitalist West.
The structure itself was much more than just a wall; it was an elaborate system of fortifications. It included massive concrete walls, watchtowers, and a wide expanse known as the "death strip." This zone was equipped with anti-vehicle trenches, barbed wire, and other brutal defenses to prevent East Germans from escaping to the West. The Berlin Wall was not merely a barrier for the sake of separation; it was a powerful representation of the GDR's fear of its citizens escaping the supposedly superior socialist state.

    Katha Upanishad Retold
    By Dr. Surabhi Solanki
What if immortality is not something to achieve — but something you already are?
In this profound and poetic retelling of the ancient Katha Upanishad, Dr. Surabhi Solanki brings one of India's greatest spiritual dialogues into a modern, relatable voice. This is the timeless story of Nachiketa, a fearless young seeker, who journeys to the realm of Yama — the Lord of Death in search of the ultimate truth: What happens beyond life? What is the true Self? Can death ever touch who we really are?
Unfolding as a living conversation between the soul and the mystery of existence, this book bridges ancient wisdom and modern consciousness, offering:

Whether you are new to Vedanta or deeply spiritual, this book is a journey home — into the silent flame within, the consciousness that never dies, and the eternal now that lives through you.
If you've ever asked Who am I beyond this body? Where do we go after death? How do I live in peace and presence? — this book is your companion.
Step beyond fear. Step beyond time.
Discover the immortality already within you.
