Sinopsis

REBEL. PHILOSOPHER. BODYBUILDING ICON.

Mike Mentzer was a strikingly handsome man with a brilliant mind and a “perfect” physique — the first bodybuilder to receive a perfect score in both amateur and professional competitions. In the late ’70s, Mentzer rose to the very top of his sport (despite the efforts made by industry power brokers, such as Arnold Schwarzenegger), was featured in GQ magazine, and profiled on national television. But he was also a man who wrestled with mental illness his entire life and ended up living on the streets and being sent to prison. Just when it seemed his career was over, he found it within himself to reboot his intellect and revolutionize bodybuilding training, arguing bodybuilders should not forsake their mental development in favor of developing their bodies. He became a pariah in the fitness industry (which only cared about selling supplements and other products) but a hero to legions of fans who earnestly sought truth.

Mike Mentzer: American Odysseus is the first biography of Mike Mentzer to appear in North America written by his close friend of 21 years, John Little, “one of the leading fitness researchers in North America” (Iron Man magazine). Drawing upon audio recordings, letters, diary excerpts, as well as interviews with those closest to him, this is the true story of one man who stood up to an entire industry — and paid the ultimate price.

"To Love Another Person is to See the Face of God."

Victor Hugo was more than a writer; he was a national conscience. A titan of the Romantic movement, Hugo possessed the unique ability to capture the grandeur of Gothic architecture and the grit of the Parisian barricades in a single breath. This comprehensive collection celebrates his life's work, tracing his journey from a young poetic prodigy to the world-renowned advocate for the "miserable" and the oppressed.

A Visionary of the Human Spirit: Hugo's work is defined by its sheer scale and moral gravity. He masterfully explored the struggle between law and grace, the beauty found in the grotesque, and the eternal resilience of the human heart against social tyranny. His narratives are famous for their "encyclopedic realism," blending high-stakes drama with profound meditations on history, architecture, and philosophy. Whether he is championing the rights of the poor or exploring the dark depths of obsession and redemption, Hugo remains the definitive voice of humanitarian literature and epic storytelling.

Victor Hugo's influence remains a cornerstone of modern culture, inspiring some of the world's most famous stage and screen adaptations. His prose is a masterclass in passion and lyrical power. This volume is an essential addition to any library of world classics, historical epics, and socially conscious fiction.

Abraham Lincoln, a self-taught lawyer, legislator, and vocal opponent of slavery, was elected 16th president of the United States in November 1860, shortly before the outbreak of the Civil War. Lincoln proved to be a shrewd military strategist and a savvy leader: His Emancipation Proclamation paved the way for the abolition of slavery. At the same time, his Gettysburg Address stands as one of the most famous pieces of oratory in American history. In April 1865, with the Union on the brink of victory, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by Confederate sympathizer John Wilkes Booth. Lincoln’s assassination made him a martyr to the cause of liberty. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest presidents in U.S. history.

Babaji occupies a unique place in modern spiritual literature as one of the most mysterious and revered figures associated with the Himalayan yogic tradition. Known to many as Mahavatar Babaji, he is described in yogic accounts as an immortal master who has guided spiritual seekers across generations while remaining largely hidden from public view. Although little historical documentation exists, his influence has spread worldwide through the writings and testimony of those who claimed direct contact with him.

Babaji first became widely known through the teachings of Lahiri Mahasaya, who reported receiving initiation into Kriya Yoga from him in the Himalayas during the nineteenth century. Through Lahiri Mahasaya, the tradition continued to Sri Yukteswar and later to Paramahansa Yogananda, whose influential book Autobiography of a Yogi introduced Babaji to millions of readers around the world. Within this lineage, Babaji is portrayed as a master dedicated to preserving and transmitting the ancient science of Kriya Yoga for the spiritual upliftment of humanity.

This biography explores the origins, teachings, traditions, and enduring legacy associated with Babaji. Drawing upon spiritual literature, historical sources, memoirs, and the testimonies of disciples and teachers, it examines the figure who has inspired generations of seekers and remains one of the most fascinating personalities in modern spiritual history.
