Frost's third book of poetry, North of Boston, is an extraordinary set of poems that are nearly dramas, conversations drawn from the heat of life, love, and death. From Home Burial and Death of the Hired Man to A Hundred Collars to The Generations of Man. Frost's work in this volume spans the whole range of human experience, expressed always in his characteristic dry, matter-of-fact, yet wonderfully musical verse. He captures the voices and lives of women and men, old and young, parent and child, and friend in crucial moments of change and intense emotion.
In his earlier volumes, he found his voice; in this book, he finds his mastery of language and image, character, and action. Enjoy!

Misalliance, a 1910 play by George Bernard Shaw, is an ironic examination of the romantic entanglements of a varied group of people gathered at a wealthy man's country home on a summer weekend. Most of the romantic interest centers on the host's daughter, Hypatia Tarleton, a typical Shaw heroine who exemplifies his lifelong theory that in courtship, women are the relentless pursuers and men the apprehensively pursued. Hypatia is the daughter of newly-wealthy John Tarleton who made his fortune in the unglamorous but lucrative underwear business. She is fed up with the stuffy conventions that surround her and with the hyperactive talk of the men in her life. Hypatia is engaged to Bentley Summerhays, an intellectually bright but emotionally underdeveloped aristocrat. Hypatia is restless with her engagement as the play starts, even as it is revealed she has also had a proposal of engagement from her betrothed's father, Lord Summerhays. She longs for some adventure to drop out of the sky, and it does: an aircraft crashes through the roof of the conservatory. The plane's passengers, a handsome young pilot and a Polish acrobat, shake up the house party considerably. Three urgent and compelling plays, joint winners of the 2021 New Writing Prize awarded by acclaimed theatre company Papatango, in partnership with English Touring Theatre.
Some Of Us Exist In The Future by Nkenna Akunna
Fresh off the plane from the UK, Chiamaka is new to Brooklyn and its extremes. She's new to queer dating, to the realities of being an immigrant. Most of all, she's new to the voices of the gods… Utterly original, wryly funny and always gripping, Some Of Us Exist In The Future follows one woman's search for a place to belong in a world that's not all it seems.
Ghost Stories from an Old Country by Tajinder Singh Hayer
Amar's older brother Dalvir has always told a good ghost story – properly unsettling, dark tales that send a chill right through Amar's soul. But now Dalvir's almost a ghost himself, cloistered and secretive. Amar desperately wants his brother back, but can he unravel Dalvir's stories to reconnect with the only family he has left? Ghost Stories from an Old Country is a riveting and poignant exploration of the ties that bind us, threaded through with captivating fables.
The Silence and The Noise by Tom Powell
Every teenager knows what it's like to be stuck between things: childhood and maturity, innocence and experience, hope for the future and uncertainty about what it might bring. But Daize is torn between even greater challenges: her love for her vulnerable mother and her dangerous friendship with Ant. An outsider with knockout trainers, Ant has just appeared on her doorstep, bringing with him a whole world of trouble. The Silence and The Noise beautifully captures the story of two young people on the edge.
All three plays were produced and premiered by Papatango and English Touring Theatre in 2021 as audio plays, presented to audiences via specially designed audio stations that toured UK theatres.

    A Poetry Book society Recommendation
Luke Kennard recasts Shakespeare's 154 sonnets as a series of anarchic prose poems set in the same joyless house party.
A physicist explains dark matter in the kitchen. A crying man is consoled by a Sigmund Freud action figure. An out-of-hours doctor sells phials of dark red liquid from a briefcase. Someone takes out a guitar.
Wry, insolent and self-eviscerating, Notes on the Sonnets riddles the Bard with the anxieties of the modern age, bringing Kennard's affectionate critique to subjects as various as love, marriage, God, metaphysics and a sad horse.
'Luke Kennard has the uncanny genius of being able to stick a knife in your heart with such originality and verve that you start thinking "aren't knives fascinating... and hearts, my god!" whilst everything slowly goes black.'
