Sinopsis

In John Keats' 'Ode to a Nightingale,' the reader is taken on a lyrical journey through the beauty and suffering of life. Keats masterfully intertwines themes of nature, mortality, and art, creating a rich tapestry of emotions and philosophical ponderings. The poem's use of vivid imagery and complex symbolism places it firmly within the Romantic literary tradition, while its exploration of the fleeting nature of life gives it a timeless quality that continues to resonate with readers today. Keats' beautiful and poignant language captures the essence of human experience and invites readers to reflect on their own place in the world. Through the nightingale's song, Keats weaves a poignant meditation on the transience of beauty and the power of art to transcend the limitations of mortality. John Keats, a prominent Romantic poet, drew inspiration for 'Ode to a Nightingale' from his own experiences with loss and longing. His intimate connection to nature and his keen sense of observation are evident in the detailed and evocative descriptions found throughout the poem. Keats' personal struggles with illness and mortality infuse his work with a deep sense of melancholy and introspection, inviting readers to contemplate the complexities of existence alongside him. I highly recommend 'Ode to a Nightingale' to readers interested in exploring the depths of human emotion and the power of poetry to illuminate the mysteries of life. Keats' timeless meditations on beauty, mortality, and art offer a profound and moving experience that continues to captivate and inspire readers centuries after its publication.

Many nations have produced outstanding poets who they would gladly have represent their Culture. But can any Nation say they have an equivalent of Robbie Burns? Rabbie. The Ploughman Poet. The Bard (Of Scotland). This one poet is indelibly linked and intertwined with the culture and people of Scotland. His life, loves, politics, verse and songs speak as them and for them.
From humble roots, the eldest son of seven born in 1759 to parents, both from tenant farming stock, the family endured both hardship and poverty. Burns endured the test and began to write first at 15 and to publish his first volume some two years later.
He wrote in both true Scottish, dialect and English as well as turning his hand to song. Politically he was an inspiration to both liberalism and socialism as well as a Scottish parliament. His unique ability enabled him to appeal to all and quite rightly to be viewed as the National poet.
As well as creating his own great works he was also an avid collector of Scottish Folk Songs preserving for posterity the works of others.
However his own life was short dying at the young age of only 37. What further greatness would have lain before him is impossible to say. But, poetically, on the day of his death his son, Maxwell was born.
His fame today is worldwide and celebrated in January each year with the Traditional Burns night. Each New Years Eve friends and families the world over link arms to ‘Auld Lang Syne’, giving immortality to his words and aims.
As former Secretary General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan says: Burn’s poems dignify and illuminate the struggle faced by the vast majority of the world’s population today.

Makeover is a book dripping with nostalgia, cigarette ash and sour cream dip. Lit by too-close TV screens and too-bright calorie counters, Bolger's poems explore growing up, differing bodies and societal expectations.
Writing in praise of mums, nans and sisterhood, this is a work bursting with strength, anger, love and, ultimately, hope. In a celebration of girls shaped by swimming baths and Working Men's Clubs, friendship and family, Makeover contends with what we inherit and what we ought to pass on.

Herein lies a raw exploration of duality, darkness, and desire. A collection of sonnets, haikus, and free verse that brings to the surface our fractured pieces and celebrates how the light and the dark blend to make us whole. An invitation to embrace the shadow and give it its rightful place as a part of the self.
Internationally celebrated voice actor and author, Joe Arden, opens his mind and heart in this scintillating outpouring of original poetry. Arden’s work bleeds from the page in the same emotionally-charged fashion as his lyrical performances of the countless love stories he’s told throughout his career.
The power you’ve hidden underneath glows,
Who told you to bury your beautiful?
Every scar tells me what your body knows.
Your presence to me is immutable.
