Sinopse

In "How We Think," John Dewey presents a profound exploration of the process of reflective thinking, which he delineates as a crucial component of effective learning and problem-solving. Dewey's literary style is characterized by clarity and accessibility, making complex philosophical concepts approachable for a broad audience. The text situates itself within the pragmatist tradition, challenging static notions of knowledge and emphasizing the dynamic interplay between thought and experience in an increasingly complex world. Through detailed analysis and practical examples, Dewey articulates methods for improving educational practices and enhancing critical and creative thinking skills. John Dewey (1859-1952) was a pivotal figure in American philosophy and education, known for his advocacy of experiential learning and democracy in education. His extensive career as a philosopher, psychologist, and educational reformer provided him with insights into the deficiencies of traditional pedagogical methods, which inform the core arguments of this work. Dewey's dedication to fostering a more interactive and engaged learning environment illuminated the necessity for a paradigm shift in both educational practices and the cultivation of intellectual habits. "How We Think" is an essential read for educators, students, and anyone interested in the cognitive processes underlying effective learning. Dewey's insightful analysis not only enhances one's understanding of thinking as a skill but also serves as a manifesto for a more thoughtful and engaged society. This book is an invaluable resource for developing the reflective skills needed in both personal and professional contexts.

Some of the criticism towards the 2019 Little Women, is the fact that a lot of the promotion of the film included several fatphobic comments from Gerwig regarding Friedrich's character. Obviously this is not ethical or morally correct. There is a problem within Little Women research, because there are Alcott's scholars who dismiss Friedrich as a love interst for Jo because of fatphobia. Based on her diaries Louisa May Alcott seemed to have liked more stout and stacked men, and she even critices the looks of the skinny men who inspired Laurie's character.
Here´s what listeners have said about the Little Women podcast:

I love this podcast! The host knows more, digs deeper, and makes better connections than any other LMA/Little Women researcher I’ve seen. I would consider myself a big LMA/Little Women fan, and I’d say I know more about the two than the average person (or average fan even), but I always learn something new listening to this podcast. I’m the admin for “The Little Women Book Club” on Facebook, and our members all really love this podcast. If you’re an LMA/Little Women fan you will love it, too!

As a long-time, die-hard Little Women fan, I LOVE this podcast! I stumbled upon it while doing research for a book series I was working on, and I am addicted! Niina is super knowledgeable in all things LW, from the book(s) to the movies and author Louisa May Alcott’s real life. I love that the discussions are based on the book and highlight the differences (sometimes controversial) between the original and newer adaptations. Highly recommended for anybody who loves getting lost in the world of Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy March.

In 1837, Hong Xiuquan failed the notoriously difficult exam to gain entry to the Chinese Civil Service and suffered a nervous breakdown. In a weakened state, he had visions which he later interpreted to be messages from God, telling him that he is the younger brother of Jesus Christ and, therefore, the second son of God. By 1850, Hong had built an army, challenged an empire, and plunged China into the bloodiest civil war in human history, one that lasted fourteen years and cost more lives than the First World War.
This is the story of Hong Xiuquan’s Taiping Rebellion, of his “Heavenly Kingdom,” and the death and destruction that came with it.
